  • Some e-retracts need to see current position commanded before they will respond to being told to change positions when the RX powers up.

On a proportional channel, the retract will need to see the commanded position pass some value, which may or may not (usually not) the be the same each direction. For example: up may require 65%+ and down 65%- of the +100% to -100% Spektrum pulse value range. (which is not the same as Futaba +100% to -100%)

So, support the model with wheels well clear of the ground and cycle the retracts, pausing a few seconds before flipping the switch or moving the stick/lever/slider for the channel each time.

MOST Spektrum RXs used to be rated up to 9.0V. This used to mean all except the micro series bricks and an obscure tiny 6 CH DSM2... but I don't know for sure about any new ones that came out since they added SAFE.
This is for compatibility with HV servos (Hitec) that can handle 2S LiPo direct.

This does not mean any of the "clones" (Admiral, Lemon, Orange) can take it
FF gliders and rubber power since 1966, CL 1970-1990, RC since 1975.

current planes from 1/2 oz to 22 lbs

    • Howdy y'all...Pardon me in advance, I did not read the entire thread. I'm especially ineterested in hearing from those of you who have experience with the V4. I can't determine from any ad on this model if the retracts have been upgraded with metal trunions & has the failures with the nose gear have been addressed? Any other pertinent intel on this model would be kindly apprecicated, as well. Thanks.

Here it is in a nut shell Gunny..........the main gear etracts in the V3 and V4 are the same and they have metal trunnions
The nose gear for both versions are metal trunnions also but FMS modified the trunnion on the V4 slightly for adaptation for the oleo nose strut.
I moddded the V3 nose trunnion myself and just bought the oleo struts. Have had the V3 bird about 5 years and still no issue with etracts.
The biggest problem out there for the ones that complain is the guys gotta stop 3 point landing trikes :Smug:
The V4 with the 650kV motor is the real deal even though the V3 580kV was satisfactory
The only finicky part is the main gear strut doors being susceptible to snagging taller grass runways and thus being ripped off:Angry:

        • I recently acquired a like-new FMS 1400mm T-28 v4 that had been flown about twice.

Got it to the field yesterday and put the first couple of flights on it. Fantastic model.

Here it is at the end of the day parked with my Unique Models 1200mm PC-9.
