Great to hear all the incredible flight reports. No doubt, this plane flies amazing, and worth every penny especially with it being on sale now (although I'd like to see some nylon hinged control surfaces ;), even if I have to pay a few more bucks, so I don't have to install them myself. A plane in this category should definitely not have foam hinges).

I have a question for you folks. My Nemesis came with six screws for the wing. Obviously you need four. Now, the package came with four identical shorter screws, and two identical much longer screws. The manual states in the parts section (Letter I) that all four of the wing screws are M3x32. That's basically saying the wing assembles with all the same size screws. However, why are some people getting two short, two long, or in my case four short and two long? I put the two longer screws in the front and two of the shorter screws in the rear of the wing. Can anyone actually confirm this is correct, or what the correct method would be? The manual doesn't exactly do a good job, especially when people are receiving different screws lengths, and in different amounts. LOL

Thanks to all for this information. I see conflicting reviews on the Motion RC site for this model. I see disputes over speed, not quality of flight. Thanks for the information on the hardware. I have learned it is usually a good idea to order an additional set of hardware for RocHobby and FMS kits, just to be safe.

Speed is a very hard thing to pin down. I've had planes "clocked" using various methods - radar gun, onboard GPS logger, smart phone APP using Doppler effect and one of those devices with the pitot tube. No two devices ever gave the same results. Even multiple readings on the radar gun didn't give the same reading each time. There's a lot of user error involved. It's like telling fish stories and the one that got away.
What "hardware" are you referring to?

Speed is such a relative thing. What's lightning fast for some, is sluggish to others. I tend to think 85-95mph is very fast for stock. 130mph is very fast for upgrading the power system of most foam airplanes. Anything foam that comes out of the box approaching 100mph to me is plenty fast. However, some people think that's not fast enough. It's all preference.

Having said that, I think this Nemesis is plenty fast out of the box.

Ball links, linkage rods, and a set of screws or hardware bag (not available in spare parts for this kit). I would think the Strega or Voodoo hardware kits would work. Cheap insurance for a few bucks.

T-CAT, other RocHobby and FMS kits use two different lengths for the wing screws, longer on leading edge, shorter at the back. I don't have this kit but want to order it, and don't see an answer to your question from someone who is in possesion.

Thanks Westsider. That's exactly what I've done as it just made most sense. The forward part of the wing is thickest, and the aft portion of the wing is thinner, so I used the longer screws in front and shorter screws in the rear of the wing. The manual may just be incorrect in it describing that the wing should be using all four identical short screws for the wing attachment.

I did email MotionRC the question regarding wing screw attachment. I got a response from the representative, and his opinion on the matter was the same as ours in that he believes the two longer screws go at the front of the wing, and the two shorter screws at the rear of the wing.

Since I don't like manufacturer branding much on RC planes, I figured I'd find a way to cover them up. Some people don't mind as much, but this was bothering me on the Nemesis. So, I went to the hobby store to find suitable material. I found monocote self adhesive trim sheets (just cut to size and press, as no heat is needed). I wanted a red and white checkerboard pattern, so I purchased one sheet and used it for the wing, tail, and nose to cover the logos. Done deal...

In addition, I changed the ESC to my preferred type, a Hobbywing 80A, and a Castle 10A BEC. After that, I changed the spinner to an aftermarket one, the Great Planes 2.5" with aluminum backplate, and a aftermarket motor/prop adapter shaft that allows me to use any spinner I want (note: the spinner did require three washers to shim/space the spinner backplate far enough from the cowling). I used an APC 10x10E, as it's much lighter than the stock prop. It's all ready for a maiden flight. I flew Alpha's at the field, so thankfully I know what to expect with this plane.

Thanks Aros. I did some painting and a little clear gloss as well today, as well as added some nylon flap hinges, but just stuck with blenderm hinge tape on the elevators and ailerons. Once the plane is dry tomorrow or the next day, I'll have to remember to post a another pic or two. A clear gloss really makes this red pop so much nicer. I found a Minwax outdoor/indoor UV clear gloss spray instead of the typical Polycylic/Polyurethane spray I normally use. Hopefully that'll protect from the sun a bit more when in the summer sun (although I try to put my planes in the shade as often as possible).

After the paint is fully dried tomorrow, I'll go out and snap some pictures of the plane. A clear gloss spray really makes the red color pop. I usually use Minwax Waterbased Polycrylic (WBPC) or Minwax Waterbased Polyurethane (WBPU) l. This time I tried something new, and it's Minwax Helmsman Indoor/Outdoor Polyurethane clear gloss spray. Since this is an EPO plane, I knew I shouldn't be concerned with the foam melting from the chemicals. Although I have had great results with the WBPU/WBPC, they do not contain UV protectants and the Mineax Indoor/Outdoor Helmsman spray does. The Waterbased ones I used before have always kept my planes nice and shine well (depending upon whether I use the gloss, satin, etc.). The Waterbased ones seem a little more fragile and don't spray on as thick, and seems to need more layers than the Helmsman, although not drastically different. On the can, it does state that even though it's a clear spray, on light colors there is a chance of slight amber coloration. Since it's all white foam in many places, I can see a bit of ambering, but it's nothing that would deter me from using it again. Sometimes that ambering can occur with the Waterbased sprays as well. Overall, I'm impressed with the new spray and we'll see how it holds up in the sun with the UV protectants, as it seems like it should hold up a bit better just by the first impressions of how it's adhered to the foam/paint already. We will see :). If it yellows a ton, I'll despise this spray, and if not then I'll love it, ha-ha-ha.

Edit: the Helmsman spray did Amber on the light white color on the Nemesis. It's not as bad on the white foam, but much more noticeable on the white plastic around the canopy. I'll have to spray some pearl white over the noticeable areas to cover up the amber color. No big deal, but I won't be using this type of spray any longer if it seems more durable and also provides UV protection. I'll try the Varathane mentioned in the following posts.

Used to use Minwax until I tried this, Doc put us on to this at first. Twice the shine, half the work and UV protectant, I love the stuff!!

I looked for that!! I wanted to try it out due to the great response from others on the forum who used it including Doc. I couldn't find it at the several stores I tried :(. I looked for the brush on and the spray, and couldn't find either. I'll definitely try that next time even if I have to order it :).
