Man, got stiffed by the U.S. Mail today for the new pilot. Did add these today, but no orange paint in the box- can't add the flames to eyeballs yet. Btw, this plane is a natural for a shark face...

I see I'm late to the party, just made first flight with mine yesterday (Jan 5th). All stock for now, measured between 95 and 101 in the air on my GPS using 4s 2200 batts that are old. Interesting: I didn't feel like it was moving very fast, but folks on the ground were amazed and commenting on how fast it was. I guess this one doesn't visually look as fast as it is. Everyone was right, slows down very well and lands smooth. We have a runway so landings were so smooth I don't think its ever going to wear the tires. This is a "no worries" plane for me, it is very stable and smooth. It does appear faster than my Strega for what that's worth.
I did calculate the CG as I do with all my planes and found that 2 1/4" back from the LE was the 30% point (55mm). So that's where I balanced it. Not enough flying time yet to say if it can go further back or not, we will see but it acts like it can go farther back.
Absolutely NO trim, it flew straight as an arrow. I did not use elevator to flap mix- had read that some were mixing down elevator to keep it from ballooning but that's usually putting flaps down too fast. At slow speed no ballooning on mine, flew just fine without elevator mix.
Next up- made a "dogbone shaped" spacer to fit the spinner for using APC props. Balanced a 9x9 and just tested this morning a 6s 2200 pack. 59 Amps max on the ground so it is good to go with this setup. I'll use my airborne telemetry to advise current in the air. Should be a lot faster.....

kenelder, been running the stock prop and an admiral 4000 battery with no modifications. I have found that battery to cg just right for me at the manual specification of 40-45 mm, closer to 45, finger balancing. Truly enjoy this plane. I heard some chatter early on about this plane and prop mods, but not much since. Let us know...Comment

Ground test with 9x9 and 6s 2200 shows 59 amps (batts not fully charged). I'm going to give it a try as soon as I get over this cold! Should unload a little in the air but I hope to have room for telemetry so I can find out in flight load with charged batts. A 4000 four cell makes sense- mine needed nose weight with the 2200 4s. Today I flew it with 6s batteries and telemetry. Using a 9x9 prop and measured peak current of 75 amps, a little stiff for the 70 amp esc. That was with fresh battery and it dropped to 69 amps for most of the flight. Think I'd be a comfortable with a little larger speed control. It appeared visibly faster (as confirmed by several club members who had seen it fly on 4s) but the onboard GPS showed 96 max. I'm not sure about the GPS accuracy as to me it seemed visibly faster too. So, I certainly accomplished warming the esc along with howling prop but am not sure if it is faster or not. I'll be looking in my bin for a larger esc before flying on 6s again.
I think I'll try the 4s using an 11x12 and see what the GPS says about that. Next up- I'll have to acquire one of the FrSky pitot tube airspeed indicators and see what that says.......
Everyone was absolutely amazed at the slow stable landings- comments were "how can it go that fast and yet slow down for landing". This is a lot of fun!Comment
