  • E-Flite F4U-4 Corsair Bind-N-Fly Basic

Here's a collection of photos taken by Bajora and Ken Simmons of my new E-Flite F4U-4 Corsair.

Man...this is one sweet looking and flying model. The full flap, slow passes are absolutely awesome! Overall power is good for scale flying and basic aerobatics.

If you're a warbird fan, this offering from Horizon Hobby is a must have in your fleet.

Thanks to Jon and Ken for the outstanding photos.

Outstanding flying aircraft, it flies at impossibly slow speeds yet remains rock solid. Tony's is very convincing in the air, and as has already been mentioned this bird looks and flies larger than it actually is.

This is going to be my next plane I've been checking this plane since It was introduced and the fact that the Corsair is my 2nd favorite after the Mustang. After winning a $100 gift certificate at Ray and Robins it will be a no brainer. Those pictures are awesome

I recently picked one of these up and really love it, the only thing I didn't like was the miniature prop so I put a 13X6 prop and 65A ESC in it. I tested with a 3s 2700mah battery and it pulls 60A.
I put three batteries through the Corsair this morning and I can confirm she is much faster with the 13X6 and the 65A ESC. The first flight I took it easy and only did a couple of full throttle passes, the battery and prop hub were barely even warm. The second and third flights I flew mostly full throttle and the batteries and prop hub wasn't any warmer than with the stock setup, I'm very pleased with this setup.

That's about perfect for me. I fly some of my slow stuff up to 10min but if I'm flying all out doing a lot of maneuvers 6min is long enough.

Well guys had this plane for a while now and even thought ive put only 6 flights on it lve been very happy until this past wewkend the 6th flight started and ended badly. I went to the field with my phone telling me that the winds were 7 to12 mph. I went on sunday ans it was 4:00 when i got there. I carried only my old HH 44" Corair with safe and my eflte1.2mm Corsair. Right off the bat the canopy latch pulled lose from the foam of my little Corsair but i was determined that i wanted to fly it first so i tape the canopy down and off i go. Flight was just like many others ive had with this little bird. Predictable and rock steady except when the wind was really gusting. Then it got a little bumpy but not bad. The winds were really starting to pick up. Landing was not to bad. It just didn't want to come down but dropping altitude on the down wind leg and useing the rudder and elevator in the turn i was finally able to establish a glide path that ended in really a good landing considering the wind. Next was the 1
2mm Corsars turn. Takeofd into the wind was no problem but trying to go wot into the wind made the plane head for the heavens and trying to trim for the conditions was next to impossible since you cant imput any stick movement for 3 seconds after a trim ajustment with the asx3 in the plane. After a tense 5 minutes i landed still having to do the same as with the smaller Corsair. Down safe and sound i set around for a little bit and had a couple smokes and drank a coke. The wind seemed to be down a bit so i decided to go back up. I checked the wind sock and it seemed stead about half extended and out of the north east. Our field runs north and south. Well i put the plane on the runway and applied slow ateady throttle and a litte left rudder (even though the wind was coming from the right.). A little over half throttle i started a little elevator up imput and the wheels started lifting off and the all of a sudden it shot up unexpected and rolled right onto its back and straight into the ground. Resulting with thw wing cracked on the bottom on both sides of the fuse and a broken prop. All in all i think i was lucky because it happen so quickly that i didnt have anytime to do anything. Next time ill heed the signs and stay on the ground. Had a bad feeling when the cowl latch on the other plane broke. Im still waiting before i start repaires but i did check the servos , gear and esc at the field and they appear to all be good. Think twice the next time. Learned a hard lesson about the wind.:Whew:

                      ,

Sorry to hear about you troubles. That's one of the few drawbacks of as3x is having to wait after the trim adjustments. Hopefully you can make the repairs and get her back up soon.

I hope to FF. The wing is cracked half way up on the left side and half way down on the right. I wish the breaks would have been clean. Its always easier to put back together that way
Now i have to inject glue into the crack and find a way to clamp it forcing the cracks shut and:Confused:keeping them there until the glue dries. Im open to suggestions from anyone on there method especially for the clamping.

                            Dewey,
After a hawk attacked my SeaFury last year and it ended up in eleven pieces, my resurrection of the airframe was via white Gorilla injected in the non clean break fractures and then held together with 3M masking tape.
Since it was busted up, pulling paint loose from the tape was not a concern. When all joints were repaired then it was just a matter of paint. I took it to NEFI last year 5 days after the wreck and Gman and others were amazed at how well it looked(from 5') and flew. I like Gorilla for fractures like that because it expands into the nooks and cranny's and the tape forces that while holding it together. Gorilla is also pretty rigid when it cures as compared to Foam-Tac so in structural stress areas where I don't want/need it to flex it is my go to adhesive for EPO. Good luck on the repair.

I wish the nose wasn't white and the green stripes were non on it. I know it's a legitimate scheme but I'm not a fan of green unless it's in paper form. :)
