Most guys in my club are flying all the different versions that motion sells. They all fly great at our field even up to 10mph, they say it takes a little flight time to get comfortable. Last Sunday we flew in the HS gym and one member flew his P-51, ME-109 and Stearman. Great performers in the gym
I enjoyed so much I ordered the Stearman today, figured for the sale price not much more than a couple of drinks at a fancy restaurant today. LOL

I hear ya... I have the Tiger Moth, too, and it flies great even in light winds.

The Stearman should be a nice fit between the Warbirds and the Moth.

I am going to take a peek myself.

Reason I choose the Stearman was it flys slower in the gym than his P-51 and I want something that is more relaxing indoors. When he flys it at the field he climbs high and puts it on manual setting - Wild maneuvers, pushes a button and it is stable to land. Durable also

Any one successfully bind the FTR version with a Radiomaster tx with 4 in 1 module? I have a boxer and am having difficulty. I can't seem to get it ro bind.

how would I go about painting this? What paints are safe for the foam?

I use water based paints but it doesn't necessarily mean oil based won't work. If I recall, I did one plane using an oil based rattle can. It's all in the prep work, if its foam, use water based Minwax clear on it first. If it beads up, wipe it off and repeat until it doesn't bead up. It's removing the oil based mold release. I use Vallejo paints and good old Wally World craft paints as well as sample cans mixed to match whatever color I want from the local paint or Ace Hardware store.

I bought the Old crown P51 sometime ago, and got the wrong version, so after finally also getting a Futaba compatible radio we were ready to fly.

However, although we can control the plane we are unable to get it to climb. It usually just flies for about 30 seconds before it touches the ground.

I was hoping someone would know what the problem might be. My son and I have noticed that when pushing the throttle above around 50% the motor reduces its power quite a bit.

So trying to measure the power change I tried the following:

I tied some cotton to the plane and the other end to a magnet stuck to the small metal top plate of the small scale, which was attached to the wall. When I increase to full throttle with the plane on a smooth wooden floor I get 37.2 grams of thrust, but it cuts down to 23 grams after 2 seconds, and always 2 seconds later. Both batteries seem to behave the same. Could it be something wrong with the ESC on the board?

If you think the ESC is faulty, is there any way of truly testing it? Are there any cheap replacement parts that might do the same job.

Have you done the "throttle calibration"?
