  • FMS 1700mm F7F Tigercat Wiring Question

Hey gang, long time no see...

Just getting back to the hobby after a break and I acquired an FMS F7F Tigercat. I looked for an official thread but couldn't find one. Anyway, I got this bird on trade 2nd hand and when I got it a lot of the stock connections/wires were disconnected so I am trying to figure out how it all goes back in.

I've managed to get the ailerons, elevators, throttle and rudder working but for the life of me I can't figure out the flaps, gear retract and doors. I have three "Y" harnesses left over and I can't seem to figure out where they go. I'm assuming everything hard wired to the board goes into the receiver. I have two of those labeled FLAP/CHAN5 and GEAR/CHAN6...those go to the receiver, I guess?

I have a black/red/white from the nose that I assume plugs into the board somewhere for the nose gear retract.

And again, I have the three "Y" harnesses that have labels on them for GEAR, FLAPS and AILE out of all things, but I have the ailerons working and don't see how I'd have a harness for that since they are run through the connection ports in the wings then to the board from there.

I have four open posts on the control board for channels 5 and 6, and the two wires coming off the boards that are labeled as "plug for landing gear doors" that has that splitter on it with a "5" and then one labeled as "plug for worm-gear retract servo".

It is all very confusing. Can anyone help?

If it goes to the board leave it there as it should then go to the FMS reflex flight controller. Then the wiring coming from the reflex goes to your receiver.
it depends what receiver you are using as to where each plug goes.
Let me know what receiver you are using and I can pretty much tell you what is supposed to go where.
    Cheers

Hey Bob, its not the receiver that has me confused...there are only two ports left, 5 and 6 for flaps and gear.

Its all these Y harnesses that aren't plugged into anything. I really need a picture. All the stock connectors were unplugged by the previous owner and I have no idea what plugs into the board and those Y harnesses.

      Its a Futaba R3006SB

Splat here is a pic of my FMS 1500 P47 manual showing the board. Als if this works are pics of my set up inside.
The only difference should be your 2 motors to my 1.

the manual shows the board hook ups and where they go from the board. The pics show the gear and gear door delay electronics has a 2 on it.
The only thing I can think of where you would need Y connectors is for 2 batteries if you require 2 and of course 2 esc's .
Let me know if you see something in the pics and I can give more detail for you.
        Cheers

That would be amazing...I'd hate for you to break it out but it would certainly help. Your P47 pics...kinda helps and thanks for those too.

In the meantime I did some troubleshooting and I think I have a bad door sequencer switch (black covered dual plug in thingy with a number 5 marked on it and a GEAR marker). I used one of the Y harnesses that I had...I swear the others didn't come with the plane because they don't go to anything...and hardwired the gear (by passing the doors) and the gear worked fine. I took the main gear doors off because hey they are just cool factor for looks and I don't need them or feel like sinking more money into this project. Everything works now, enough to fly her so I might just call it good lol. Not worth the frustration.

Splat thats likely the same thing I thought had a 2 on it.
Do you still want pics of the inside of my new one?

If you haven't broken into it yet then nah I'm good, I don't want you to have to go thru all that for me.

I think I'm just going to fly her the way she is now, no main gear doors. I'm pretty sure its that gear/door sequencer switch because when I plug it all back in everything that was working stops working. The door servos whine so I think they are burned out too or about to go junk so I'm not spending more money on this and its just one more thing to break again down the road. I definitely appreciate all of your help Bob.

Anytime Splat. The doors on my Bonnie do a bit of whining too and it hasnt flown yet. But everything works with the sequencer plugged in.
                      Good Luck Splat
