The Dynam Corsair got here in 3 days. It really is a beautiful model. went together pretty easily. I balanced it and seemed perfect with a 2200 mah battery all the way up even though I heard you need 1/2 to 1 oz weight in the front or a 3300 mah battery shoved to the front to balance it. Mine seemed fine without any of that based on the cg location. Took the plane off and she flew nice and straight. I don't even know if I needed any trim. After a bit, it did seem like I had to work to keep it level, then it hit me. I balanced the plane with the retracts down. When they go up, the cg moves back making the plane tail heavy. I need to add weight in the front or get bigger batteries. I put some weight in but before I was able to take her on another flight, I notice the retracts weren't working right. The pin catches on one of the screws and also the shaft bend a little and one of the wheels were hanging up on the wheel well. Overall, I am really pleased with the plane. Any shortcomings are par for course when you deal with retracts. Looking forward to get a flight in when she is properly balanced.

        Welcome to the forum Warhurst!
I personally don't own either, but the one thing that would make me swing towards the FMS Corsair is that Small Parts CNC makes aluminum replacements for the plastic sides of the retracts. I have them on both my P51's and they make a big difference in L/G strength

          Hello warhurst,
First, welcome to the Squawk. A good place of knowledgeable and helpful folks.
Regarding your question, there is only one 1400 sized(55") Corsair and that is the FMS. Dynam's is a 1270mm(50") and in short, night and day comparisons.
In answering your question the first bit of info required from you is an honest assessment of where your flying skill set is at. If your a novice just venturing from trainers to trying your first warbird then the FMS is not where you want to go to at first. The Dynam is definitely more forgiving of the unrefined skills of newer warbird pilots.
I am our clubs lead flight instructor and airshow warbird demonstrator and so please believe me that it is important to walk before you run. The appeal of these larger birds sometimes blinds one of their abilities until it becomes a costly and exasperating event.
          Best regards,
          Warbird Charlie

Yes, good point Charlie, I didn't think to ask what his skill level is, my mistake. But he's right on the money warhurst, learn to walk before you run, cheaper that way for sure!

The EFlite P-47D has to be one of the easiest flying warbirds on the market. With the AS3X it's rock solid and stable, yet will really perform when you tell it to. I fly on a grass field, too, and it does struggle a bit on the grass. Once rolling, though, it usually does fine. The AS3X also makes the P-47 an incredibly forgiving plane, especially in take offs and landings. Even though it's a warbird, it's my go-to, stress-free plane. The paint scheme makes it very distinctive in the sky.
