Aros You don't have to fly it........ever.
But the way I imagine it,
"She will call your name in the darkness of night
With haunting suggestions of delightful flight.
Your madness will grow as you'll never know,
The giddiness of seeing that sight."

Well played Elbee well played!
Well here's the completed cockpit. My builder just informed me that this model does NOT have a sliding canopy! EEEEEK!! Thankfully, he's not about to let that beautiful cockpit not be appreciated without a sliding canopy so he said he is going to do the mod. Blessed!

For something this beautiful, Aros, you just HAVE to have a sliding canopy to show off all that incredible detail!Originally posted by Aros View Post

I'm curious why the description for this model lists "sliding canopy" when no parts are included for that option, and the manual shows it being screwed in place.
I think RC Geek has a video on his T-28 build that explains the hardware needed for a sliding canopy. I look forward to seeing how your builder does it.

That’s a fine question. False advertising. I’ll bring it up to Gator RC if it’s listed as an amenity on their product page (I don’t recall).Originally posted by rclad View PostI'm curious why the description for this model lists "sliding canopy" when no parts are included for that option, and the manual shows it being screwed in place.

I’ll alert my builder on that video, thanks!

Small update...My builder buddy is starting to realize this is more of a KARF (not to be confused with the awesome giant scale CARF models). Half Kit, half ARF, lol. Apparently, there's a lot of things you have to do out of the box that should really be done for you in the factory, such as carving out slots for servos, that type of thing. The composite model itself is beautiful but there's a lot the manufacturer expects the builder to do versus some of these ARFs out there that have already done a lot in terms of servo and hinge cutouts, etc.
So my build budget has been rising accordingly.
His wife loves to paint RC models and she does a fantastic job. She's started on the wheel wells...I think it looks great!
No build progress today as there was a massive wind storm last night and a giant tree fell in his neighbor's yard...Luckily his house was spared and nobody was hurt. I should have told him not to give me any lame excuses, get in there mister and get those ailerons put on!! Haha...
I ended up having to switch out the servos I originally bought for Hitec D-645Ms. Apparently there was a "fit" issue. More to follow friendly thread followers, lurkers and fellow reprobates.

Wow! That tree was one BIG MUTHUH! They were lucky it landed where it did, instead of on his house. You can dock him some pay though, for delaying working on your plane. That's a great question, I'll ask and see what he says. Your idea sounds good actually!Originally posted by rclad View PostHow will your motor, esc and batteries be cooled? I was thinking of cutting an exhaust port where the radiator cooler door opens on the full scale. If mine wasn't so heavy already I would add a servo and linkage to open and close it with throttle input.
Edit: Yep, he was planning on cutting out the hole there for cooling. My YouTube RC videos:
