After building 16 foam airplanes from fighters to bombers, I have determined that the Freewing AT-6 is by far the Best model I have every built. The instructions were very well laid out, not like the one's from almost every other model. The model is strong well built and so simple to assemble my five year old grandson could put it together in about an hour, it took me all of thirty minutes. I'm somewhat of a slowpoke because I have to have everything just right. I gave this plane a full five rating because it deserves it. Strong, well built, The detail is off the chain, and so easy to put together with mostly screws, very little glue. Freewing did all the building and fine tuning for you all that's left is the major components, wing to fuselage, tail feathers to the fuselage, test the gear and you are done. WOW, you can tell I'm very excited about this model AT-6 from Freewing and MRC. Thanks to everyone involved...What a Christmas!!!

      RE: Freewing AT-6

      Hi Jag,

Welcome to the forum! Thanks for the review of the AT-6. There are several members on the forum who also have that plane and like it. Have you had a chance to fly it yet? I have the Dynam AT-6, and enjoy it, but it is one of the more difficult birds I have to land smoothly. Flies great, aerobatics are easy, and looks good in the air, but landing this one seems harder to do smoothly than most of my other war birds.

Anyway, glad to have you on the forum, I look forward to hearing your flight review!

No haven't flown it yet it is the beginning of winter here in New England, Yuke,  will fly it in the spring along with other models built but not yet flown.   Well back to the B-17, just got it and got it out of the box...WOW!  looks like some work involved to put this one together.   So long for now and happy flying or at least happy building.

            I've been eyeballing this one

            It's HUGE!! 74 inch wingspan.
My trouble is where to fly it from, but it would sure be cool to have.

Hey guys. Here is my Freewing AT-6 to RCAF Harvard. Little by little it's coming along. I have yet to add aerial mast and such but I'm getting there. Having a blast changing this into my Grandfathers livery. Lights coming soon. Just received them from my favorite retailer. Motion RC. I'm using the FMS Cessna 182 Skytrainer light kits.

Ryan, I think one of your pictures did not post. Ryan put a new livery on his AT-6. It looks fantastic.

JAG, thanks for your business! You will likely need to add some lead under the cowl of the Freewing AT-6 to attain proper CG.

                    RE: Freewing AT-6

Added pics along with original full scale. Pics were correctly oriented on my computer but didn't end up that way here. More to come in the following days.

On CG please watch the RC Informer build. I think he added 6 or 9 ounces of lead to the cowl which seems to be the common consensus from those with experience on this one. I put in an Admiral 3600 just to drop the retracts and did a quick inverted finger CG check. It needs weight up front for sure or a sound system, something.

                        Hello Ryan,
Would like to know where your getting the graphics/decals from ?? I need to change the tail livery on my A6 to the squadron emblem I was with, VA-35 Black Panthers.
Also, nice job on the stock decal removal. Did you peel or just shoot paint over them. Your one pic seems to show a shoot over.
                        Best Regards,

I'm thinking that a video of flying this one on Memorial Day in honor of your Grandfather would be very appropriate!

                            RE: Freewing AT-6

Hey guys thanks a lot! I can't wait to fly it! I'm going to engineer some proper split flaps, add lights and aerial mast. Tonite I worked on an extra canopy. I never liked the gloss black inside the cockpit either so I'm playing with paint and used painters tape over the instrument panel and painted it flat black. The gloss black gives away the cell of the foam. Also I'm using the pilot from the 1400 zero. Who seems to be an ok size. Sour cream container makes the seat back. Sourcing some bits for the roll bar.

I'm painting by hand. I don't have an airbrush.

I don't know why the photos rotate like this. They are fine when I see them until I hit post. Sorry

I can't wait to shoot video of this one. I may do an overview on my mods and discuss the paint scheme. As far as a build, RC Informer covered that. I will however keep posting pics of my progress. I'll try my big boy camera and put away the cell phone and see if these aren't right side up this time. My pilot now has a roll bar and seat belt.

Looks good Ryan, where is that pilot figure from, I really like the look, much better than the stock FMS guy.
Does this model come with gear doors? That's the one thing I noticed because of the funky bend in the gear.

                                    Keep up the good work!!

The pilot is the FMS zero 1400mm. Yes, the plane comes with gear doors. I looked at better scale retract sand gear legs. Won't work.

Nice, I gotta get me one of those, so much better looking.  Hey while I've got you here, does the canopy on the 1400 FMS P51D come off?  I know it slides back but I've monkeyed around with it but short of forcing it, it doesn't seem to come off.  Got the major part of painting my Pandora done tonight.  Check it out in the airbrushing section
