I have the B model Dallas Darling. Mike has the Duchess D model. I remember it moving fore and aft but that's all. Might message him and see what he says.

Man, I'm having a blast with this Texan/Harvard. Makes me want to do another one. I've been looking at so many schemes of it. Back on the retracts. I will more than likely put the gear door covers back on even though the bird I'm doing doesn't have them. Freewing would have  had to make a thicker wing and moved the units very close to the leading edge to have scale angles, that or put a tremendous angle in the initial strut pin coming out. I wanted to paint the strut and fork yellow but it will draw attention, so back on with the gear doors. Now I'm going to go check out some Pandora wings.

Just wanted to give a shout out to Motion RC for doing me a solid on replacing my Freewing AT-6 Texan after a Maiden crash. Long story short back during Christmas my wife bought me a the AT-6 to add to my growing fleet of 9 planes. I didn't get a chance to put it together because at the time I had a PT-17 and SE5A I was working on completing. I did all the normal pre flight checks programmed in 75% dual rate and 25% expo along with adding 14 ounces to get the flying Brick as my local field/friends like to call the plane setup. About 2 weeks back I got the opportunity to do the maiden on the first flight she required no trim honestly I can't remember a plane that I've flown in the last 5 years that didn't require some. Anyways first flight un eventful grabbed up another Admiral 4s 3600 and up we go, everything again is great until the landing approach. I had setup as I do on our field a good 150 feet out to get my glide path locked in we have over 2 foot ball fields in length to land on. As I was coming in about 100 feet out the rudder servo locks full left and she burns in I would call it 50% loss wings survived because of the metal spar. Fuselage pretty much a total loss cowl busted, engine mount bent, prop busted, tail broke clear behind the wing, and landing gear bent severely back. First thought was receiver lost signal, but not likely at that range and the fact that I did a scan of the 2.4ghz interference with the Flysky FS-i10 onboard software that day before flying and it was basically non existent. After I got the pieces home I noticed the wire running to the rudder servo had a cut and was melted. I've only been flying 5 years, but in that time I've flown 17 different Warbirds and other Jets and never seen a wire melt. So my thought was that must have shorted the servo.

On to the good part, I called up Motion RC that following Monday told them my story honestly not expecting them to replace anything not like it was their fault. I was more curious if Freewing would do me a solid and maybe replace the body since it was out of stock in both colors. I was asked to submit a ticket via email and they would see what they could do. The next day not even 24hours later Martin got back to me and told me they were sending out a NEW Plane! I can't even tell you how many times I yelled to my wife about how awesome that was. Most other companies would tell you to pound sand and give you the run around. Which as most know Motion RC prides itself in taking care of its customers, I've purchased several planes and batteries from them every since they opened their doors. I can tell you this just reaffirms why these guys get everyone's business. It also helps that they are a Veteran owned Company being a disabled vet myself that was one of the big reasons I started buying from them in the first place. Anyways I just wanted to give these guys a big thanks for taking care of me and treating their customers like they matter with respect and mutual trust. I attached the picture of the new Texan with a bit of a custom paint scheme this time the plane ended up CGing with only 9 ounces of weight. Not sure why it needed full 5ounces less I wont complain though 5 ounces is 5 ounces lighter...

Hey guys thanks a lot! I can't wait to fly it! I'm going to engineer some proper split flaps, add lights and aerial mast. Tonite I worked on an extra canopy. I never liked the gloss black inside the cockpit either so I'm playing with paint and used painters tape over the instrument panel and painted it flat black. The gloss black gives away the cell of the foam. Also I'm using the pilot from the 1400 zero. Who seems to be an ok size. Sour cream container makes the seat back. Sourcing some bits for the roll bar.*

I'm painting by hand. I don't have an airbrush.

I don't know why the photos rotate like this. They are fine when I see them until I hit post. Sorry
Hey Ryan. I know this opening an old forum, but what paint company and what specific colors did you use for the yellow and black? With the new E-Flite AT-6 coming out, I will grab that one and want to paint it in the RCAF colors. Your model looks awesome - will be ordering the graphics from Callie that you set the template for.

On a different note...do you know the company that makes the geotex that you laid down for your runway? We’re considering doing the same at our field and want to price it out. You’re runway looks awesome.

What you see is a paint that was probably mixed at a hardware store ie Lowes or Home Depot . What most of us do is take a small part with the paint we want on it and have it scanned and custom matched with their computer .

Thanks for the tip, Bryan. I appreciate the input - That is normally what I do, but I am going to purchase the new E-Flite Texan, which is silver, and paint it yellow. That’s why I was asking for Ryan’s paint code; so I could match it on mine.

Just got mine! Buddy I used to work with ordered this plane on clearance a year or so ago. He never flew it! Sold it to me for $160 including a Spektrum AR610 still in the package! Normally the T6 didn't catch my attention, but I couldn't pass up the deal. The guy in the build video was 100% correct about the needed nose weight. I added 10 oz's to get mine to balance with a 3000mah batt. I just happened to have 2 strips of lead that measure 1" wide by 5" long, each weighing 5 oz's. They used to be weights on 2 marker buoys I used on my bass boat. Took a small can & beat the lead into perfect circles & they fit behind the dummy radial like they were made for it. Encircling the motor with about 1/2" clearance all around. I think I'm gonna like this plane. I'll post a link to the maiden soon as i can. Click image for larger version

I still have mine in my workshop about 80% complete. It's a great looking plane with strong landing gear and many scale features. Those that got it on clearance got an amazing deal for this size warbird. If Freewing/Flightline ever does a V2 they will definitely make sure the plane comes with proper weights pre-installed to achieve the correct CG. Good luck on your maiden, post some pics if you can.

Need a propshaft for this plane! Anyone have a spare that's NOT BENT? Or know of a compatible one that's available? Thanks! Ron
