Official E-flite 1500mm Apprentice S 15e Thread

I had a wreck the other day with my Mini Apprentice S doing acrobatics and one of the four posts that holds the wing rubber bands. broke off. I don’t see that part for sale and wonder if I have to replace the fuselage or if I can maybe try a screw or some other repair. Any one have this happen and fix it? Thanks

I used a roofing nail and used CA glue to affix it to the rod.

I have FrSky Horus radio and an iRangeX 4-in-1 module to plug in the back of it...I tried to bind it to my Apprentice last night in PPM mode, channel 8 and Serial mode, Multi DSM x11 & x22 modes and it does a partial bind in PPM and in DSM x11 modes but the throttle will never initialize even though the lights flashed and then went solid on both binds but I never got the final "tones" that indicates a complete bind. The DX5e binds perfectly every time but I would like to get this on one of my programmable radios.

Any advice?

Your low throttle setting PWM output is probably not low enough. (By default, the iRangeX module firmware does some scaling on the MULT DSM protocol and this reduces the endpoints on all channels - Spektrum PWM range is 1100-1900µsec and FrSky is approx 900-2100µsec. This scaling is a firmware option. Newer versions of the firmware allow turning this option ON/OFF, but the older versions do not.)

Try this: Turn on "Extended limits" on the main MODEL SETUP page, then on the OUTPUTS page, you can decrease the lower endpoint for the throttle channel.

You could also try calibrating the ESC (but I am not familiar with the ESC on this plane). This way, you can teach the ESC where your lower throttle position is. I'd actually recommend trying this option first.

I just ordered my S-15. I have been planning on doing so for the last couple of years, but finally just decided to pull the trigger. When I get it I am going to paint it a darker color to be easier to see. Will I need to remove the decals to paint it? Here is what I hopefully want it to look like, with the addition of a "Flying Tiger P-40 " shark mouth.

You want to make an Apprentice look like a "warbird", with a shark mouth?
Eflite Apprentice foam is kind of slippery - decals don't stick to it very well. They should peel off once you get them started. Because of the slippery smoothness of the foam, it will have to be wiped down with alcohol and even then, the foam could continue to off gas, making paint hard to stick. You may need to look into some kind of primer.
