RC Oldy, I've put 2 flights on mine since i installed the HobbyEagle A-3. Its not an absolute necessity but if you fly like me(trying to tie the low altitude record) it a nice comfort. It makes it just a little easier to fly the aircraft more scale, especially if you have some expo dialed in. But as the other comments say, its not a must. It flies awesome without it.Current Fleet: Flightline Tigercat, Flightline Bearcat, Eflite Corsair, ESM Skyraider, Pilot RC Yak-54 30%:corsair

I lowered the sensitivity by one click from out of the box settings. Just pay very close attention to which way the gyro is making its corrections. I had to reverse a couple of the channels via the gyro. Motion RC has an excellent YouTube video where Ryan demonstrates the set up process. Very simple, just lots of flashing lights.Originally posted by RC Oldy View PostThanks guys what kind of gain settings did yous use on your A3 I agree the comfort factor of a gyro is great I have never set a gyro up they have always come set up any tips on seeting up gyroCurrent Fleet: Flightline Tigercat, Flightline Bearcat, Eflite Corsair, ESM Skyraider, Pilot RC Yak-54 30%:corsair

I have posted this a couple other places so here is the short version. I have a Flex Innovations Aura8 in my F7F Tigercat and absolutely love it. Basically makes wind a non-factor.MRC: Avanti S, F7F Tigercat. Eflite: Carbon Z Cub, A-10, P-47, Micro Radian. This is where i put mine. Works great.Originally posted by desertdrifter7 View PostMy question is where in the plane did you put the gyro? I see a small flat space just aft of the electronics box. I cannot see anyplace else where it would fit nicely.Current Fleet: Flightline Tigercat, Flightline Bearcat, Eflite Corsair, ESM Skyraider, Pilot RC Yak-54 30%:corsair

Hey guys, when I got mine, I was going to put a gyro in it and really couldn't find a place that I liked, so I thought to heck with it and flew without. Good call, I've never looked back on it. All my other planes have gyros in them, but since the TC, I've purchased the Avanti, rebuilt the FMS 1400mm P-40 and got the 1600mm Spitty all with no gyro. I rebuilt the Bearcat as well and flew her without the gyro but reinstalled it because the wind factor out here is something to take into account when flying smaller planes. It's there as a backup and I plan on leaving it off unless its needed.
Getting back to the TC, she's an extremely stable platform, if you can fly a Pandora with a tricycle gear setup, you won't have any difficulty flying her. Unless that is you forget your flying as you enjoy the visual of the TC in the air, very eye catching!
I did get hit with a surprise cross wind last Summer in Riverton and she got pushed off course. I just took her around again and made my turn to final a little sooner than the landmark I was using and it was no trouble.
One thing I've started to do with this particular plane is to drop gear and wait a few seconds before deploying flaps as the gear has a three or four second lag between the time you hit the switch and it actually deploys, those who have one know what I mean. She would tend to porpoise a bit if both switches were hit at the same time. Not a big deal, but it looks more scale using this method.

I agree its definitely not needed at all. I like mine in it though because it seems to make scale maneuvers more fluid. Plus I bring it by for some really low passes where dirt is coming off the ground haha. So the added stability is always nice there. My big gassers do not have them though. They're big enough and heavy enough to be stable all on their own.Current Fleet: Flightline Tigercat, Flightline Bearcat, Eflite Corsair, ESM Skyraider, Pilot RC Yak-54 30%:corsair

The one thing I was a bit surprised about was how small the room for such things is in the TC. You get used to a big plane having a cavernous hatch to throw pretty well any and everything into. Not so in this case. Still gets me every time I look down the nose from up front and see just how streamlined this bird is. Now with hotter motors installed, its going to be very interesting. I'm just thrilled that I didn't have to change props in order to pick up some more speed/power. CB estimates a 10 mph increase at full throttle, at a 1/10 scale, that would translate to 100 mph for a full size. Can't wait!!!!!

I've got to get something to shoot vid with. The Cannon Rebel will shoot vid, but you can't look through the range finder, you have to use the view screen which is totally useless in the sun. The wife does an excellent job with it when she takes pics, (see Nefi 2016 and 2017) but we're trying to come up with a system for shooting vid. I'm not a real fan of head cams, but I like the camera that will follow the airplanes, that's just too cool. I gather you attach something to the subject (airplane) and it will track it.
