From the moment this model was announced I have been anxious for its debut. Now that it is here I am pleased to say it did not disappoint. Here are the specs as a refresher:

Horizon Hobby PNP, BNF and RTF airplanes are exactly true to there package as in very little build time involved. Look at the pics of whats in the box and you will see that the model is 95% complete. The only work that needed to be done was connect the leads to the receiver and then screw on the wing. The next step I did was attached the horizontal stab by inserting first the carbon fiber spar in one half and then connecting the second half and securing it with the supplied tape. The only glue needed was for attaching the scoop to the fuse. The bind port has a lead that goes to the battery compartment as the receiver is difficult to reach as you need to unscrew the wing to get to it. The battery compartment is just behind the motor and has a quick release button which is great for reducing stress on the foam from constant pressure.
The airplane will not be a speed demon at its stock setup but is flawless in performance. As a P-51 fan I have owned a lot of the 1100 and 1200 class foam P-51d's and the E-Flites has the most balance in performance. On take off the airplane lifted when the wings were ready unlike others that have a tendency to stall on take off as their motor will lift off before the wings are ready. Should one want to give this bird more bite I think the Power 25 will be plenty of muscle. The retracts are very sturdy and not just for looks. I had a very rough landing and they did not bend or break. The flap uses one servo and is on the top of the wing. On my DX9 I set the Flaps to one of the 3 position switches and they deployed to perfect levels.
