I got an email from MRC tech support saying an ESC will be sent to me. I replied saying it is the issue with the design of the ship and I will promptly burn it again in 2 minutes. That really does not solve the problem. Dai

Mine (Yamato) quits after 2 minutes but I was able to run again with "on off" mode with "on" no more than 10 seconds. MRC models use water cooled ESC without any water cooling mechanisms so that is why we see ESC issues across the board. MRC wants to send me another ESC and I told them what is the point as I will promptly burn it up again. At this time I think all ships that use 4 motors are just static models. i ran mine maybe 5 times and my ESC has quit luckily it was in my pool and easy to retrieve Also had 5 barrels on 5" guns warped or broken from being shipped in plastic bags

Greetings,
This is my first post. I recently purchased the Missouri, this is my first model ship but, I’m not new to RC. I must say I am impressed with the detail, it arrived with very little damage much better than I expected. I have not had the opportunity to run it yet but should get it wet this weekend. I’ve read the posts about the ESC and can understand the lack of cooling being an issue and this has me worried. One solution I thought of is to use ESC cooling fans, I’m not sure how much this would help on this ESC since there are no heat sinks. Other than the fans my guess would be to replace it with a regular surface ESC that has a fan attached.

Do NOT run it or else you will risk the boat stranded at the lake. Too many reported problems. I bought three and they are all grounded. DaiOriginally posted by Rickc View PostGreetings,

Thanks Dai. I was going to do some pool running, not sure this will be an issue since it’s kinda small and I’m not sure if the ESC will get hot during that time. I do want to put it in the lake but I’ll wait until they/we have a resolution. Have you found a way to prevent this? RickOriginally posted by dai phan View Post

Rickc,
A pool run will be fine. Get some help if possible. Have someone hold the bow or put some foam on the bow. Place the bow against the pool side and give it full throttle. If you have a bad ESC it will show up in less then 2 minutes of run time. If you flew electric airplanes have your thermal gun and cell checker handy so you can check temps and cell voltages.

On my Yamato, 2 minutes at 25% throttle shut the motors down. If that was a plane I would have lost it. DaiOriginally posted by pdansalvish View PostRickc,

Rickc Welcome to Hobby Squawk! I posted the message below in the PT-596's thread, you may find it useful. Like Dai Phan, if you run into an issue, please see my message below and contact Motion RC's Tech Support team. They're tracking a handful of gaffes with the factory's 120A ESC on select models, and I'm in direct communication with the factory as the data evolves.
"Friends old and new,
As many of you who have been Motion RC customers for years already know, our team welcomes feedback of all kinds, and we expeditiously relay all officially recorded feedback to our factory partners for warranty claims, new ideas, and product improvements. For customers with issues, concerns, or questions of any kind, our CS Team is available to serve you by phone Monday-Friday, 8am-6pm CST, and by email and live chat during that time. As with any product purchased from Motion RC, we stand behind our Bancroft products just as strenuously as we do our other top brands including Freewing, Benchcraft, Nexa, and FlightLine. So far, I am aware of a small number of customers, around five, who have contacted the team and are now awaiting replacement components for issues related to their Bancroft boats. To anyone reading this who has not yet contact the Motion RC Customer Support team, please do so. They will be more than happy to serve you!
While online forums are a great platform for us all to engage in diverse, unhindered discussion with a global RC community, may I please remind us all that online forums are not official channels to contact Motion RC Customer Support. If you have any feedback, good or bad (but especially bad!), I strongly encourage you to please contact the official support team through official means so they can service your purchase and record the issue for feedback to our factory partners.

Aside from the testing we conduct alongside the factory's own, we always welcome the individual experiences of each of our customer family around the world. The more information, the better. Where things are great, it is nice to hear it. Where things aren't great, it is essential to hear from you where, when, and how, so we can uncover why, and fix it. Such is the cooperative relationship of transparency and attentiveness that we hope by now our customers expect of Motion RC. We live for this stuff.
Thanks all"
I run my Missouri for about 15-30 minutes, depending on which battery I have. 2 minutes, as psandalvish said, will tell you a lot. After 15 minutes, the motors are fairly warm, the heat sinks are warmer (as they should be since their job is to wick away heat), and the ESC is hot but no more than a jet's ESC would be. I can post some temperature readings if that helps. In general, anything that is so hot that you cannot keep your finger pressed on it for longer than three seconds it is too hot, in which case I'd call it in.

RickC,
I have received a message from MotionRC's support center last week. According to their email, my boat received a marine ESC which needs water to keep it cool. This was installed at the factory by mistake. Also, they stated they are sending a new ESC which is air cooled. Which is what Alpha was referring in his message. Unfortunately, I have no timeline when I will receive the new ESC. For me, my boating time is going away quickly. I have about 3 weeks left and this week I am on travel. So, I am hoping it gets here soon. But, my first run will be in the bathtub. If things work I will put it in the lake on Halloween weekend and start my guess and canoe patrols.

Hey y'all! I will be a proud owner of this beautiful ship come this week. I'm very excited to set her up and begin her first maiden voyage on the open pool of my apartment complex. I do have a question about the turrets, what servo do y'all recommend on installing? around this time next year i may get the 1/150 Missouri, who knows.

At this point with ESC problem, run in the pool is safe. DaiOriginally posted by Th3Resurreccion View PostHey y'all! I will be a proud owner of this beautiful ship come this week. Greetings y'all! So she came in and I immediately charged and set her up. Afterwards, I went to the pool at my apartment complex to test her out on the possibility of a bad ESC. All was going well testing her and all, then the office manager came out and had to stop me due to the pool being closed 🤦♂️, I explained to her that I would've taken the ship to the nearby lake but didn't want to risk it being stranded because of overheating (explained to her in a way she could understand). She was nice about it and I had to unfortunately leave. She performed well for roughly 10mins till I was told I had to leave. So I recharged the battery and later that evening took her to the nearby lake. Heads turned once I put her in the water and the smile on the children's faces and pointing had nostalgia rush through me when I was their age seeing RC ships. She ran beautifully out there. It was a big test too because the water wasn't calm, I was fearing it would capsize because of the wind and waves, luckily in the cove I was in, it wasn't too bad for 90% of the time I was there. I got a solid 20minutes with her. I will get a battery upgrade before Christmas. And around March-April 2021, I'll purchase the 1/150 Mighty Mo. I'm gonna keep testing her especially this weekend and will post updates. I'm also going to make a video of her, any ideas for music? I'm considering "Thunderstruck" because it's what was used in the movie Battleship 😂
Have a good 'un!

Th3Resurreccion Welcome to Hobby Squawk, Rex, and thanks for posting your maiden voyage details. I'm glad to hear you got 20 minutes on the battery, which is right between the "15-30 minutes" I stated earlier above that I get with my 1/200 Missouri on the stock battery. A heavier 2sbattery would be an easy and effective upgrade.
I'm sorry to say it sounds like you won't be able to fit the larger 1/150 Missouri in your apartment complex's pool, though! Although I imagine it would create quite a stir. Lake cruises will have to do.
Did you get any water in your hull? I've fiddled with the idea of installing a sort of bilge pump, more for show than anything else, probably after a sound system upgrade. I haven't gotten much water in the hull during normal handling, but still relocated the receiver further up the side wall off the hull floor for added peace of mind.Live Q&A every Tuesday and Friday at 9pm EST on my Twitch Livestream

Do you have any issues of the fragile PE parts? On my 1/200 Yamato I managed to damage some despite I was extremely careful with it. I will be ordering the 1/150 ships next time. The PE are much more thicker and more robust. DaiOriginally posted by Th3Resurreccion View PostGreetings y'all! So she came in and I immediately charged and set her up.
