Nice! What will you use for the anti-fouling paint?

Just like normal ships, the hull below the waterline is usually painted with an anti-fouling paint to minimize barnacle growth. It is typically the rusty red color standard on naval vessels. On a recent model I built of the Dallas I used Mission Models US Navy anti-fouling red.

Gotcha. I am looking at doing SSN-717 the USS Olympia and I find mixed images of it. Most are all black...its an older boat so that may be why?

Could be that the painting process has changed since I was on the Dallas (1993-96). We were in drydock twice while I was aboard and both times it was repainted with the red.

Olympia sure looks nice there.

I do see artists drawings of it with the red and perhaps this was a picture of it just before it was painted. I dunno...

The WTC is installed as well as the pushrods for the stern planes and the drive shift for the prop. I also got the fairwater planes servo installed using a bracket I designed and printed and I added a grey stripe of anti-skid to the top of the hull. More weathering on the way.

She got wet for the first time today. Made good progress trimming it. Still a little more to do and then graphics will be the last thing. At least she will make it to the regatta in two weeks.
