  • New On-line Vendor?

Anybody ever heard of xtheuppa.com? They're selling HL tanks for less $100 Canadian.

Except for two models, the rest appear to all be the previous TK5.3 versions, or in some cases even older like their 72Mhz versions, nowhere near the latest TK6.0 2.4Ghz versions that we're selling.

Those "retail" prices are lower than the Factory Cost, so I emphasize extreme caution to anyone thinking they're receiving a modernized TK6.0 2.4Ghz updated version of a Heng Long tank. Unless this is a closing house website.

I'd encourage someone to try contacting these guys and see if they're a hobby shop who can support the tanks?

Seemed to good to be true. When you say "we're selling", can I assume you are MotionRC? Do you ship to Canada?

bcmfin Yes, I'm the Senior Manager at Motion RC, and oversaw our incorporation of Heng Long's products, including writing all the initial overview threads in this sub-forum. Yes, we ship to Canada.

My comments regarding the link you posted come from the fact that I've spent a lot of time at Heng Longs factory and know their team personally, and they didn't know who that reseller was when I asked them this morning (it's morning in China as I'm writing this).

As a modeler hobbyist, I too am always open to finding new sources for products I like. There are some things on that website that would interest me, if I was in Canada. Far be it from me to tell people where not to buy; as long as we do it with our eyes open, it's a free market!

Luckily, a phone call is usually all that's needed to verify if a purported source is legitimate and can meet our respective expectations of service and support.

        Happy hunting,

I sent them an email inquiry yesterday and haven't heard from them. I wanted in inquire if their warehouse was in Canada or China. Maybe it's an upstart to compete with Aliexpress in Canada. I also did a web search to find out if they were legit but most sites say they are too new (1 month) so they have no reviews to offer.
After looking through their stuff the prices are just too good to be true or they are misrepresenting their goods. I almost made a small purchase to test them out but when they wouldn't take paypal I bailed as I got a bad feeling about it all.
I'll let you know if I get an email response from them. I wouldn't mind getting a new in box Mato M36 for $130cn but that just doesn't make sense unless something is amiss.

Thanks for your reply, I got my KT from MatoMart before I found you guys. I was surprised it showed up in 2 days, turn out they have a warehouse in Barrie, Ontario, just a couple hours north of me. I've got MotionRC bookmarked now.

I did notice they filed their domain name just in the last month. Just for giggles I'll order something from them and let you know how it turns out.

Can you tell the version just by looking at them? I haven't taken the upper hull off my Mato KT yet so I have no idea which version I have. The upper hull does have the stub for the old 27MGZ antenna.

Mato does not use the new 6.0 HL control electronics and if memory serves they did not use the old 5.2/3 electronics either. They have/had their own system.

bcmfin Externally in pictures only, it's difficult if not impossible to tell the version, most often because many websites show stock factory photos, not photos they shot themselves (our photos on the website and on this forum, by comparison, are our photos that we shot ourselves). Externally in person looking at the tank alone, it's a bit easier to tell the version of tank, most obviously by seeing if the upper turret has a magnetic area to attach the TK6's magnetic IR receiver.

If you were in a physical store, you could open the box and look not at the tank but at the accessories. A TK6 tank will always have a TK6 radio and a magnetic IR receiver.

Let us know what you find, guys!

I wouldn’t buy anything from that looks so shady lol. If it’s to good to be true in rc it normally is.

Looks like I'll be ordering a new board from MotionRC. (and a couple of batteries, I'm THAT guy that fried his Li-ion), I'll let you know what I find when I open it up. Thanks for all your replies.

Okay I got the belly of the beast open and the board is a Heng Long 2.4mhz. I'm guessing that's a version 5 point whatever. Upgrade time.

Don't forget you'll need the new ver. 6 transmitter also...

Maybe I should just go for another board (Clark?) and use my DX8i. I've got spare receivers lying around.

Did a check on these guys through one of those online shopping ratings sites and in their opinion there are too many red flags showing for this site. Very shady web address and bits like that. Thought I would see what it would cost to buy and ship the mato all steel Sherman to NZ, all up cost of $130 Canadian, with a weight of 0 kg. Yeah, nah.

They are Heng Long Tank specific. They are located in Vehicles/Tanks. For any tank look in the "Spare Parts" tab.

I have opened a cased up against them this morning. I went back to the website this afternoon and it is not working. SCAMM!!! I hope I get my money back from paypal.
