  • TK 6.0 vs 6.1 and IR Combat System Questions

Hello, I'm new to the forum and about to pull the trigger on a couple of HL Tanks from Motion RC. Do these come with the TK 6.0 or 6.1? More importantly whats the difference between the two?

I've been reading a lot of threads about the differences between the Tamiya and HL IR combat systems. I do like the option for the tank slowing with damage. I'm into modern tanks and don't really do WWII. That being said will the lack of options for size, hit count and reload time really matter?

The 6.0/1 come with a basic IR battle system and BASIC IR receiver. They do not have weight class, damage or firing rate. These can all be worked around by the operator following simple operating guidelines when playing with tanks that do have these features.

Here are a few: Run the tank in low power, count the time between shots and fire only after a give number of seconds have past and before the fight start “put” a few hits on the tanks to lower the total number needed to destroy it. Follow these simple steps and the 6.0/1 HL tanks can play rather nicely with Tamiya tanks.

This has all be written about prior in greater detail so check out the older thread. IR Battle Systems?...... Heng Long 6.0 vs Tamiya

Thanks. I did read that in the other thread. The workarounds make sense.

What I am looking for is an add on/mod that emulates the function of the Tamiya system. I see the Clark boards and I'm thinking about that. I guess I'm really wondering if its worth the cost of the change to swap the control board out. Preferably I would just like to add the functionality to the existing system but I don't think that is possible.

I assume you don’t have a HL 6.0 tank in hand. With “modern” tanks the 6.0/1 HL system is actually a better overall handling system then the Clark, IBU or Tamiya systems. At current there is no add on system to the 6.0 that give it all the additional battle features.

About the best modification that you can make to even out the performance in battle systems is to add the LegoDEI battle receiver. It goes a long way toward bring the two types of battle systems closer together in that the 6.0 becomes equal in its ability to “receive” hits and in some case easier to hit.

Thanks. I was suspecting that when I wasn't seeing a lot of people modding the newer HL tanks. For the cost I think it's a reasonable trade off. Has HL provided any indication of updating their IR system???
