  • After weathering. Heng Long RC tank is Matte clear coat recommended?

Hi just got into the hobby last week and about to get my fourth tank. Very happy with the Heng Long's. After weathering the tank is it a good idea to clear coat it? Will it damage anything?

    Thank you Steve

It will not really matter one way or the other if you are driving them a lot outdoors. If they are more of indoor tanks then yes clear coat them. Clear coating will not hurt anything.

I use a matte finish (the kind you use for paintings) to protect the acrylics and knock the gloss off of the decals, but it’s mostly old habit from static kits since outdoor tanks weather themselves. I avoid actual flat clear coats like Dullcote since they seem to be at a higher risk of fogging and the extra texture just doesn’t look right.
