Is it necessary to change out HLs transmitter? What's the benefit if I decide to change it?

If you are using a factory HL 6.0 and up control system then you cannot change over to anything but another HL transmitter. It’s their “coding” and the control board has no means of adding a stand alone receiver.

Kinda suck having to use their cheap feeling TX when the tanks drive so well. A better feeling TX would make the entire experience more enjoyable.

The only way to upgrade would be upgrade the MFU to Clark or El Mod. I used a Clark and am pretty happy with it. I use an Frsky Horus with opentx. I have infinite programming options for switches etc. It is an investment though. A TK 40s is about $162 delivered.

Let me know if you need any help. The TK 40 board is a bit of a mystery when you look at the schematic. The thing that helped me was to compare the tk 40 schematic to the tk 60 schematic which list the outputs.
