Hi all,

The tank will arrive tomorrow and that is my 8th tank. Doing research on the Net indicated this was released of more than 10 years ago when HL was tank toy manufacturer. Maybe that is why the exhaust was placed at the tail light rather at the correct output on top of the tank? Any comments on this vintage release? Dai

It’s a really good running tank. Tracks are meant to be a little loose/sloppy.

There is no idler adjustability but it is not really needed with the KV1. There are a few little thing that can be “tuned” for increased durability and reliability but not immediately necessary.

Mine is relatively stock except for the T34 turret as it was converted into a T34-85-I. Overall one of my favorite tanks to drive and battle as it is nearly unstoppable off road in rough or sandy terrain.

I thought about this last night. What makes the KV1 stands out? It is a vintage release of more than 10 years ago. I have been "babying" my 7 tanks. But I am going to let lose my soul and run the KV1 as Rubicon99 says it will run hard and come back for more... Dai

I found out that I had to tighten all the screws as they were all about to fall out ! What in the world? Dai

I really like the look of the T-34 turret on the KV-1. Is it a simple conversion ? Is it in any way an authentic variation of a KV tank ?

It is and it isn’t a real tank. It was thought to exist and was even written about in a book on Russian WW2 tanks. Not long ago it was discovered that in fact the tank never was built.

There were a number of KV1s that used JS2 turrets and a smaller turret similar to the T34-85. Both the JS2 and smaller turret have a similar look to the T34-85 turret.

I built the tank to represent the one found in the book. Below are photos of it as it appeared in the book.

Since we are about to move forward with the KV-2, I would like to finish the work on my two KV-1s. Here is my 1^st one that has all metal running gears. I use it for battling. I load up as much “junks” as I can :-).

And here is the captured one by the German. This one has plastic running gears. My tank....my style :-)
