    Hi all,

Just ordered couple of wires set from Taigen so I can move the MFU to a better location. Dai

Just a thought, Why not put the MFU in the turret? Since the M1 has a large turret, put it in there and you would only have to run the engine wires, battery wires and headlight and tail light wires to the hull.

I just got my H/L Abrams a little awhile ago. I posted some of the problems, basically the left track didn't move. I was able to fix that by switching the wires around like 99 suggested.

Now I am having the same problem as Dai. After I screwed it back together it would bind when cycling the turret.. I took it apart and I did find a loose wire was getting stuck in the turret gear. I fixed that, put it back together and it still binds about 160 degrees one way and 90 degrees the other. After looking at the unit and trying to figure out what was happening, I would hold in place and then take the top off and look to see what exactly was going on. I think the airsoft unit is hitting against the lower hull. There is not enough clearance for the airsoft unit to pass. I have 15 other tanks and this is the first time I have had a major interference between turrets and the lower hull. I'm not crazy, My son in-law has a Abrams and it does not have this problem. I did get my tank from ebay and Toucan. Unfortunately it is past the 30 days or I would of returned it. This is so frustrating. I can deal with shorted wires, bad mfu's, etc. But how do you fix an inherent design flaw of a interference between major components. Dai I feel your pain, what are you going todo??

That sounds like the wrong airsoft unit was installed at the factory. Despite the 30 day limit having expired I would contact the seller. If they sell the airsoft units sepatately you might be able to arrange a swap for the right one.

That's a good thing to check. My Abrams came with the barrel recoil as well as the 360 degree rotation. Maybe the recoil unit is larger than the standard. I think Dai said he had the recoil and 360.

I'll also contact Toucan, I have had to solve issues with them on several occasions before and they have always been pretty good about making things right.. Thank you for the response.

Not possible as the wires are to short and all the wires in the turret will bind even more. Dai

Contact Godfrey at Toucan Hobby. He is post sale manager. Tell him Dai sent you. Even after 30 days I am sure he will serve it you right. He is is going to send me a new MFU ( the wire was ripped and killed the CN4 channel) and an on off switch. The only way to solve the problem is to move the MFU as Rubicon99 suggested to the forward section. I just ordered some wires from Taigen so I can lengthen the wires. I see no other way. Interestingly I have the T99a and it is a big tank like the Abrams but it has so much space inside the hull ! Dai

Thanks Dai, I'll contact Godfrey now. I appreciate the name of the sales manager. I think I will lengthen the wires also like 99 suggested. So far when a suggestion has been made I have came a little closer to having a decent M1A2. One of these days I might even get far enough to place the accessories and decals.

I've only had my M1A2 for less than a week now. Today, I took the upper hull off for the first time to do some paint work. I too, ran into your problem-what a mess. For the life of me I couldn't figure out why my turret wouldn't do 360 rotation without binding. It seemed no matter where I placed the electronics, the turret would bind. Then I took a REAL CLOSE look inside. On one side of the battery box there are tiny raised "ledges" where the electronics are placed. After tucking the wires as neat as I could AND placing the electronics in that spot and lying on its side, was I able to close the lid and have NO binding issues. When it comes time to screw down the 8 screws, I found it important to have the tank resting on the side that resides the Electronics. If you turn it over, the Electronics (or wires) become unlodged, and your back to square one. It's an insane process, but if followed, your turret should not bind anymore. It's a given that HengLong has no clue about wire management. Otherwise, it's a fine tank.

I was having the same issue with the turret seemingly randomly binding on a new Abrams 7.0. In my case, I needed to relocate the MFU to the side (there appears to be a slot for it). Before, it was kind of just floating over the battery box. I also had to get creative with the turret control wire and the headlight wire (the latter of which was disconnected out of the box).

Dai Phan, does your Abrams have the 360 turret slip ring? (I didn't recognize it in your picture)

I had to do the same as Zippersnapper just to get mine not to bind just past 100 degrees.

Looks like I resurrected an old thread. 😮 sorry about that.
