Well I bit the bullet and got stuck into the kv1 tracks, something I don't want to do again anytime soon, removed one link from each track easy enough but putting the tracks back on, oh wow, what a mission. Before and after pictures

The trick is to remove the upper hull and separate the sprockets halves. Then removing and reinstalling the tracks is rather straightforward and reasonable simple. Trying to work on the tracks with the upper hull on is a challenging adventure.Originally posted by Sappo View Post
Your tracks in the second photo might look a little tight but they will wear in and loosen up the more you run the tank.
On a positive note the difficulty in removing the tracks translates into what makes the tracks stay on so well when running outdoors.

Oh I did take off the upper hull and split the sprockets,taking the tracks off was easy, putting them back on was another matter with the extra tension on them. But they no longer walk on the sprockets anymoreComment

The first pic looks correct, the tracks on a KV-1 are meant to be slack.Comment

Yeah they look right in the first pic but they walked off the sprocket in the mud. Yeah I know, there is a lesson to be learned here, don't run in the mud.Comment

Excellent! That's a great way to see where to "put mud" when/if someone does weathering!The more screws it takes to reassemble a tank, the more likely it is you left something out!Comment
