  • Gearbox issue?

HL Abrams. 6.0S.. metal tracks, metal Idle wheels and metal sprockets

The last few times I ran the tank smelled burning metal when putting it away. I see it's one of the gearboxes. The axle for the first gear is producing shavings!
The sprocket wheel on that side no longer rotates. It appears that the motor still works.
I would appreciate some help with this problem...
Is the gearbox repairable or would it be best to just replace it / them?
Motors appear to be fine.... would it be best to replace both motors and gearboxes at the same time?

Could using a Li-Po battery be part of this issue? (right size, 3500 mAh, longer running time, more output)
Didn't have this issue with Li-Ion battery. (1800 mAh)

From the look of your photos you need to add some grease and oil to your gears and gear shafts. HL steel gearbox should have a “wet” look to them not a totally dry look as pictured.

A drop or two of oil on each gear shaft end and greasing up your gears will pretty much stop your issue.

The oil and grease WILL NOT hurt anything and do not worry about dust and dirt getting inside the tank and effecting the oily gears.
