The 619 Tank Battalion is having their June tank battle day this Sunday the 13th. I will not be able to attend this month, but there will be many others ready to battle and a number of loaner tanks available should you want to stop by and check it out.

    Details below.

    Notice for our local group

Local members of our group. We need to search for a new site for a battlefield.
We have two issues that have escalated at our Mission bay site.
All of the close parking is boat trailer only, the city painted the street parking red and eliminated it about a year or so ago.
The regular car parking is on the other side of the lot and is not plentiful.
The city parking enforcement used to only show up on big 3 day weekends and ticket cars in boat trailer spots but now they do it every weekend, well every day they told me. The lot is full of RVs of homeless that never move despite the no overnight parking since the city is not enforcing anything other than tickets. Which doesnt make them move their vehicles. This may change on 15 June but I dont know.

Also we now have homeless living in our battlefield, 3 tents and crazy people walking back and forth across our field shouting and screaming at each other. Again, in my discussion with the police this may change when Covid restrictions are lifted on 15 June if the city lifts its hands off policy on the homeless. We will see, the cops I talked to were hopeful.

But for now, I am beginning a new search for a battlefield site and I encourage all to take part in looking at local parks or vacant land. We prefer bare dirt with minimal vegetation no soft sand and no crushed bark / wood chip / mulch ground cover.

Early in the year, I sometimes park there to take weekend stroll of fresh air to get out of the house due to Covid lockdown. But last week, I parked at the same area and took a short walk, and came back to a $52 parking ticket on the windshield, as also 4 cars around me.

So please be aware as we are coming off Covid lockdown, the cop are enforcing it and easy ticket for them.
