  • The "Plan" for my Heng Long Sherman...

    Righto... this Sherman is now all but 7 days old, and already the plans are brewing. I've seen some awesome work by others on it (Heng Long and other brands) on Youtube, and it has inspired me enormously. So off a planning we will go.

    Already been buying spares and detail stuff from various vendors, sometimes for an absolute steal on the Dutch version of Craigslist. What I've got sofar;

    Spare plastic hull (with the leds for the front and rear lights already installed)
    Complete spare turret (V6.0 with all the electronics and BB stuff)
    Metal engine deck grill (Mato)
    Metal horn and cover (Mato)
    Metal .50cal for the turret (Mato)
    Brass barrel and etch details for the .50cal (Aber)
    Metal .30cal for the turret (Mato)

    I've already made a cable from the battery compartment to the rear of the hull for a Voltage Alarm to keep an eye on the battery. Those voltage alarms are cheap (about a dollar) and they are great for the health of your LiIons.

    Now, the "Plan" for now is;
    • Remove plastic engine grills from the top of the hull and replace with metal grills and hinges. This for easy access to the innards, like the smoker for refueling and the Voltage alarm for settings and turning it off.
    • Remodel the spare turret to look like a Firefly turret. I know this involves another barrel as well, and I am still looking for one that will still let me shoot BBs. Might scratchbuild the british style commander's hatch or buy a metal version. Same for the loader's hatch, altho I don't think there is a british version available.
    • Remodel the (spare) hull to resemble a VC Firefly hull. This means a different type of driver hitch and eliminating the front .30cal. Which means I have a MG firing led going spare. Which I might move to the top .50cal. Because... why not?
    • Remodeling the gear box covering to resemble an early type. Or buy the excellent resin one Forgebear sells. Not sure on that one yet. There's an awful lot of variants around anyway.
    And that's just for starters. Good thing I have a spare hull and turret to mess about with while I can still enjoy driving...

    Yeah... browse the topics long enough, and you find more stuff to do....
    • Change IR stuff to LegoDEI's system. As soon as I figure out how to get the purchase not get killed by the new stupid tarif laws in the EU.
    Also looking where to get a firefly barrel that will still let me fire BBs. Might get one from Toucan on their Ali shop, and have it shipped along with a Panzer VI Type F...

    Conclusion; A tank leads to more tanks... damn, those things are addictive. One a side note; picked up a cheap RC jeepy thing, and now working on files to print a 1/16 scale Willy's Jeep....
