IR problem

I didn’t see an answer in the FAQ but I could have missed something. I bought a Leopard II V6.1 with a 360 degree turret and slot for a camera. Got it all pulled out and put together and everything worked accept for the IR receiver. I have used the mushroom from other tanks to test and still won’t register hits. I can shoot just fine so my IR bulb is good but can’t get hit myself. so I opened it up to see and it looks like the slip ring that makes it go 360 is sharing a common wire with another circuit for the IR receiver. Not sure if that is acceptable or not? Everything looked ok and I plugged the Camera in just to try and it won’t work either. It appears to be the same camera I’ve seen in heng long 6.1 tanks that come with it but won’t work. So there’s my two questions. IR not registering hits and camera not coming on
