  • Bunker from scraps and miscellaneous left overs

I had a spare Tiger turret laying around, and a TK 6.0 (replaced with a 6.1), and piles of lumber and foam. So, I built a bunker loosely inspired by something I saw on the internet one time. It should be fun to put controls in the hands of a child without worrying that they'll run into something expensive.

The finished product: Taigen Tiger 1 turret with recoil, LegoDEI receiver, HL TK 6.0, 3D printed parts: Turret ring and rotation mount, Door, Receiver Base, Gas Cans, Etc, Random Wood, Trees (Christmas Clearance), Sand from the garden, Small plastic Plants, and some paint.

Began with a rough idea and some 3D work.

Cobbled together a base with more wood and insulating foam (new to me process).

    Add some paint and dirt...........

Rewire the Taigen recoil and recreate the missing mount plate.

Add some "non safety conscious" soldiers and start playing.

Now to make it a real threat. Cover the front slot of the IR receiver so it can only take hits from three sides. This would mimic the difficulty in taking out a defensive structure like what you have built.

Covering the front of an IR receiver is common practice for IFA tanks (aka tanks without turrets) and gun emplacements. This makes them more of a challenge to knock out thus slowing the other teams attack.

Thanks for the suggestion. I may move the receiver just inside the bunker, and put an FPV camera on the top. Need to try it out on the field first.

I actually like that a lot without the turret. Looked more real.
