  • Heng Long King Tiger

So I think I'm going to get the King Tiger pro 6.0 for about 215$. Is that a good deal? Is that RC tank worth it? And yes it has the metal gear box.

I think it's a good price with the metal gear. I got the very same tank.

Here's mine, with a bit of work. I have some trouble with the pins working loose. I keep experimenting with track tension. I would love to replace the track with something that doesn't have loose pins! I am still working on the crew...the commander is old and will not be around for long.

Thanks so much! I used to build models like a nut when I was a teen and I loved tanks. I did it with a cheap airbrush. I first used Dunkel Gelb (dark yellow) from Vallejo, but it was too green and dark. I hate that the tank came out too dark compared with most models I see online. I then airbrushed the green and brown patterns, then I used some oil paints to make the colors a little varied. Then I did the dots ( I think they're too big but hey, it's an R/C, not a static model...at least I keep saying that LOL!!) with a small brush, then I weathered it with oil and acrylics. I did a bit too much rust (heck, most Tiger IIs (King Tigers or Tiger Ausf Bs) probably didn't last too long to get that rusted but again, I was after a fun R/C toy and not a nitpicky model.
I originally blackened the tracks but I guess it didn't get dark enough. I am planning on painting them rusty and then letting the metal wear through.

Hard to tell but I got clear 3D periscopes installed, and the commanders MG34 is a 3D print I got from eBay. The tank fell over when I took off the tracks; the commander's hatch is broken. There's always something breaking LOL. You can tell by the giant screw. I need to take the turret apart (sigh...) and look for a better screw.
