  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MEEEEEE!!! (Or How I Explain I Have An AWESOME Wife)

Today is my birthday (lest said about that the better... it's all downhill from here...) and I woke up to coffee, pie and THIS!!!

Introducing #17... SWMBO saw me watching a video on The Chieftain's Youtube channel about the Panzer I, and she was amazed people actually used that one in WW2. She asked me if there was a model for it, in 1/16 scale (or as she calls it "redonkulous scale" since I used to think 1/48 was big...) and I said yes.

She has then proceeded to check the wish-lists on my favourite online model shops (another good reason to keep those lists...), found it at the top of one of them and ordered it for me in time to arrive today.

Oh, and because she's AWESOME she also ordered the number 2 on that list...

German Tanker for scale... (Not me, by the way. I like to think I aged slightly better... )

HOW AWESOME IS THAT!?! A model of a 1/1 scale 88mm round! And she already made a space for it next to the TV in the living room...

    I'm so lucky...
    Sherman M4A3 105mm Houwitser / Sherman Firefly IC *under construction* / Panzer IV *awaiting side-grade from TK7.0S to TK6.0S* / Stug III / King Tiger / KV-1 *awaiting upgrade to TK6.0S* / Tiger I / T34-85 / Leopard 2A6 *waiting upgrade to TK7.0*... No, I do not have a problem....

I can't stress enough how important it is to keep a wish list at your favourite online stores, -and- let SWMBO know how and where to find them easily. Also lowers the risk of them going into your browser history...

Just to emphazise how awesome my wife is? Well, let me tell you...

Me; "Oh honey, that 88mm round is so cool, thank you. That's gonna look ace, and maybe in the future I will get that Russian round they have in this series as well..."

SWMBO; "Want it for you birthday?"

Me; "You mean my next one?"

Phone pings, and a message pops up; "Thank you for your order! Your "Pig Model 1-003 - 76.2mm UBR-354P HVAP-T (Real Scale Ammunition Shell Kit) 1/1" will be delivered tomorrow."

      SWMBO; "Happy birthday, sweetie..."

      Love her so much...

Tiny Chinese/Russian tanker model for scale (Not my wife)

Will you put that round in the front window, as was done in the movie "Christmas Story"?

By the way, I ran a thread on how to r/c'erize the Panzer 1A & B, if you think of doing it. Having tried a couple of options, I still recommend the Heng Long 1:30 equipment for that. Also, I recommend searching eBay for metal tracks for it if you r/c it. The plastic ones will break down eventually.
The more screws it takes to reassemble a tank, the more likely it is you left something out!

The guy won a "life size women's leg in fishnet stockings" lamp and insisted it be put in the front window, to the mortification of his wife. The movie is a seasonal classic in the US.

Back to Panzer 1's. There are two 3D figure files on CGTrader that would go well with your P 1, depending on the paint job you do. I'm planning on getting both. They're full length but a saw can fix that quickly.

Ah, right! Think I've seen that lamp mentioned somewhere. Nah, not gonna do a lamp from that shell. And if I did I don't think it would mortify the missus. Might do a lamp with an AIM-9 Sidewinder as a base tho... I've got the plans for that one around here somewhere.

Those figures look good, got a link to where to find them on CGTrader?
