What to do with Panzer plastic tracks after upgrading to metal

I upgraded the plastic tracks in my panzer III and IV to metal. I had a few too much of the extra plastic links. I did not know what to do with them so I went thru my WWII books and found these pictures. I applied right away. Also before, I was unhappy with the way some of the components inside the turret were exposed from the gap between the barrel and the turret at the top. Now with the track chain is placed on top, they are all gone and out of site. Well here they are:

In the past, I made a plastic piece to cover the top. And now with the track, it looks better..... for me :-)

I still have this much extra tracks left after the installation to those tanks above, lol.

Just out of curiosity how did they attach the tracks to stop them falling off and did you replicate the same as I also have a few plastic tracks I am thinking of doing the same thing?.

Most of the time the “track armor” of WW2 was spot welded on.

What about the extra wheel for my panzer IV. Can I "weld" it on the side of the turret similar to the US tank?



Or I need to make a holder like the one on this tank?
