I imagine many of us have places we run our tanks outside of IR battles. I personally know of a couple just in the Southern California area... Anyway, I'm starting this thread for folks to display their testing or simply driving areas. All are invited to add photos or videos. I have an overgrown embankment on my property, so I'm going to clear a trail through it. This stretch is very short for now. One can see, however, that tight spaces with questionable traction are not a tank's favorite environment!

Extending my trail...an M4 Sherman struggles through the jungle.

Tried a bunch of my tanks. the M41 Bulldog far surpasses others for surefootedness and traction. On the other hand, my M3 Lee capsized twice! Biggest difference between the M3 and the M4 (same chassis), is the metal tracks on the latter, yielding a lower center of gravity.

Me again...another trail video clip. I modified a Sherman turret and inserted a Runcam 2. This is on an all plastic Heng Long Sherman with no speaker. The lack of weight decreases traction, as you may notice. As of now, the trail is about 40 feet long. It will be extended as time permits The Runcam can be connected to a video transmitter to allow actual first person driving. The camera can also take stills, which I may try at a future battle meet.

Hello Bob and fellow tankers!

Just joined the Hobbysquak forum, which is entirely Bob's fault.
I fly RC airplanes since 2013 and ventured out into the surface vehicles a while ago'
Couldn't afford a real RC tank (hobby grade) for some time but started with the newer HL series last year.

Here is a "little" view of my personal terrain, it's also known as the North American Continent?
I'm a long haul truck driver runing in Canada and the USA.
So, I have occasionally the chance to drive or fly my RC modells in different places.

Very cool Bob. On each of my FPV tanks the sighting is different. My T-90 has a fixed camera at the commanders cupola. Since it is off set from the barrel I have a fixed gun sight in front of the camera for targeting, looks like what would be on a WWI fighter plane machine gun. On my Bulldog it's heat shrunk to the IR receiver and fairly in line with the barrel. On my T34 is in the drivers hatch so it doesn't move with the turret, super hard to use to target.

My Leo and Challenger have cameras in the bird houses and are set up with head tracking to look around independently of the turret movement. While very cool it's hard to determine where the turret center is for driving (I have specific spots on the front right of the hull I use as points of reference) and also the offset from the barrel. The difficulty makes it a challenge.

The Battleground and crawler section is right next to a RC race track and a RC flying field as well as a neighboring dog park.
So whenever we have long enough stopover at our Mississauga terminal my Co driver (Koda) and I visiting this fun zone.

A great day altogether.

With a little bit attention to your surroundings as well as a bit time, one can create a bit tanking atmosphere for something like that:

All I used, was two left over piles of gravel, my hiking boots (for landscaping) and a few RC Tanks. :rolleyes:
