Heng Long sells a module that is a camera and wifi transmitter. You can also buy one of their tanks with this module already installed. It plugs into the wifi socket on the main board.
Sounds great, right? I bought my first tank with this feature. I very rapidly learned that it isn't useful at all. It transmits via wifi, not bluetooth, to an app on your phone. Given that the tx module is the size of a fingernail, you can imagine how weak it is. Two consequences; range is about 30 feet maximum, and the farther away it is the worse the reception. This translates to image freezes and connection dropouts. Also, the low power translates to a very noticeable lag. Move the tank, wait a second, watch the movement on your phone. Not real time by any means.
In addition to the above, the field of vision isn't very wide. No peripheral vision at all. The camera will be pointed where the turret is pointed. If it's not forward, you're driving blind, or at least crooked! It's a huge handicap in multi-tank battles.
So, seems like a nice idea, just not practical. The more screws it takes to reassemble a tank, the more likely it is you left something out!

I've done the same.Originally posted by Evan D View PostActually, that port is just a power out port that can be used to power anything that needs about 6V. It's also switchable on and off from the transmitter.
I have regular 5.8G FPV on a number of tanks and use that to power the camera and VTX, through a small BEC since my gear is 5V tops. The more screws it takes to reassemble a tank, the more likely it is you left something out!
