The Type 90 was the main battle tank of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, first entering service in 1990. Built by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and operated by a 3-man crew, the 120mm smoothbore main gun was fed by an auto-loader, allowing for efficiency and a smaller number of crew aboard.

For safety, two transmitter buttons must be pressed simultaneously to shoot airsoft ammunition. A red warning light flashes when the tank is about to shoot, and the firing mechanism can be switched off by a separate switch hidden under the hatch. A red rubber plug is also supplied for the cannon barrel when operating in non-firing mode.
