The M4 Sherman, officially Medium Tank, M4, was the most widely used medium tank by the United States and Western Allies in World War II. The M4 Sherman proved to be reliable, relatively cheap to produce, and available in great numbers. It was also the basis of several successful tank destroyers, such as the M10, 17pdr SP Achilles and M36. The official designation of this specific model type is "M4A3(76)W HVSS", but it is most often referred to as the M4A3E8 or "Easy Eight". This variant is visually distinguished by its 76mm M1A2 cannon and its "duckbill" track extensions. The Easy Eight served in WW2, the Korean War, and even into the early stages of the Vietnam War.

Faithfully recreated in 1/16 scale, Torro continues to grow its reputation as a producer of high quality, high functioning RC tanks. This Pro Edition of the M4A3 Sherman features more than 70% metal part construction, a 360 degree rotating turret, a realistic torsion bar suspension, and a barrel recoil and muzzle flash effect that fires in sync with the IR (infrared) battle system.

This version is delivered as RTR (Ready to Run), meaning it is fully functional out of the box.

    All Metal Track System

All of Torro's "Pro-Edition" tanks feature full metal drive systems. Single track links are connected with steel pins, propelled by metal drive sprockets and riding over metal road wheels and idler. Confidently conquer terrain with these durable metal tracks!
    Exhaust Effect

Enjoy the added scale realism that an exhaust provides.
    Heavy Metal Castings

Hoist hooks, hatches and even simulated "welds" are reproduced in cast metal for unsurpassed scale realism.
    IR Battle Ready

Engage in friendly infrared ("IR") combat with other tanks using Torro's proprietary IR Battle System, both inflicting hits upon and receiving hits from opponents! Sounds and action signal each hit, until the 5th hit disables the tank. After 10 seconds, the disabled tank restarts and can rejoin the fight!
    Onboard Charging

Torro's convenient onboard charging system eliminates the hassle of removing batteries after every driving session. Safely charge the onboard NiMH battery by plugging the included charger's plug into the tank's concealed charge port.
    Superb Scale Fidelity

Molded details, metal cast parts, brass photo-etched parts, and functional elements such as opening hatches all elevate this RC model to the next level, making it a perfect display piece when it's not powering through the battlefield outside.
    360 Degree Turret

Fully rotate the metal turret 360 degrees, and move the all-metal barrel up and down to train on your target. Torro's integrated drive electronics gives you complete proportional control to translate your precise inputs to all axe of movement. Drive, turn, traverse, train, and fire!
    RTR

The convenience of "Ready to Run" (RTR) allows new players to join the world of RC Tanks with ease!

The best one I know of is the taigen version. Right now it's on sale for $589.99. Kind of pricey, but it is a very good tank.

Actually, the price is very cheap for an all solid metal lower chassis RTR tank. Another advantage is its flexible electronics. This model uses Torro V3 electronics that allows you to use your own 6 channel PWM capable hobby grade transmitter and receiver with this tank. Just follow the instructions in the manual on how to setup! Most brands are compatible, (For Spektrum, make sure you use a 5V receiver!). TBS Crossfire, FRSky, FlySky, Futaba, JR, etc have all be reported working perfect with minimal to no setup.

BTW, my experience is limited to cheap HL or TD gears. I learned the above from internet.

I've been a friend of the imex model company in Florida for many years and they are the official distributor for Taigen. It's actually more of a partnership between the 2 companies. In fact, I just talked to Bill, the owner, about 3 weeks ago. Everything Keilau said is correct. You can hook up your own transmitter, but I've never found that to be necessary. The transmitter that comes with the tank works just fine, and if you do use your own radio, you do lose the machine gun feature. So far I've had and sold 2 of the 76 mm Shermans and I can tell you first-hand that they are a very fine model tank. I'm not sure if they're in stock right now but the last time I talked to Bill he was expecting a container any day now so they may have restocked or may restock very soon.

Taigen/Torro are one of the same, models from different importers might have slight variances in terms of options/extras, Torro's also come in wooden "crates". I started with Taigen's and was drawn to the metal hulls, however, like other brands out there, some models are good and some not so good out of the box, at least not until modifications have been made. e.g. the PZ4's, Leo's, Tiger 1's, Panther's, and Sherman's run great, T-34 OTOH has a hybrid and somewhat flimsy "metal" hull supported by plastics on the sides which I managed to render it in-op before I found out it needs to be beefed up. Then the King Tiger has a poorly designed upper-deck (structural) and barrel slop in the turret, which results in "bouncing" barrel in motion.

While I have added a number of HL's to the mix since, I still appreciate the electronics in the Taigen/Torro, not because they are better except for the fact that I can use my own transmitters and I could fine tune a number of things, including inertia, etc. However, because the factory uses some undocumented mix in channel 5, one would loose the MG control, furthermore, the smoker on the Taigen/Torro port is always hot, so an inline ON/OFF should be added.

As for the MG, there used to be an inexpensive product came in the form of a control board that can be added for use with a spare channel, but it has disappeared about 4 years ago.

Taigen has them in stock right now. The IR version is a bit more at $620, so you might want to wait and see what kind of price Motion RC puts them up for and go with whoever is cheapest. Taigen also has free shipping, and they are sent "signature required".

Also, a lot of you know that Erik left imex but his replacement and the new Tech guy for tanks is named John and he was trained by Erik and I've dealt with him before, and from what I can see he's really good at this stuff. He really knows what he's doing.

All, thanks for the info. Hope that RC Motion gets in stock so I can see the prices from both sources.
