Here is the unpainted Toro panzer IV tank that I bought. You can see what is metal and what is plastic :-)

Great looking tank, looks wise my fav, love the colors of the painted version which I think was used by DAK if I'm not mistaken.

So what does it take to make this or other Torro tanks Tamiya battle ready?

If you have the V3 Torro control system you will need to select it to the Tamiya setting. Then you will need a Torro IR receiver or you could wire for a HL LegoDEI receiver. Torros IR receiver is the same as HLs old IR receiver and those work but no better then the new HL receivers.

You will then have a tank that can fire and be hit by Tamiya protocol tanks. It will not take damage and should perform similar to the current HL battle system.

To be 100% Tamiya protocol battle ready you need to change out the entire control system to one of the many aftermarket offerings and the associated IR compatibility receiver.
