  • RC Tank Battle in Orange County, CA 8/28/2022

I plan to host a RC tank battle event on Sunday 8/28 in the city of Huntington Beach, Orange County. It will be for everyone but mostly for the youths from my temple and my friend’s church. We want to get them out of the houses and be involved in an outdoor activity for a few hours. So it will be after mass from church; 2PM-5PM at Huntington Beach Central Park (West). The battle field will be next to lake Huntington.

I have 16 HL IR tanks (Tamiya protocol) ready to battle. I have 4 more that don’t have the HL transmitter to run on. I have a request for the members from the SD or LA clubs who will come to LA this Saturday to battle. If you have a loaner tank or an extra HL transmitter, kindly let me borrow them for my event. I will return them to you at the next battle we meet. I also would like to borrow some “damaged” tanks to set them up at my battle ground too.

    Many thanks in advance!

What a great gesture! I'm sorry I can't contribute. Remind me though the next time you come to SD, I have one more spare HL Tx. Free to keep.
The more screws it takes to reassemble a tank, the more likely it is you left something out!

Wow the park has changed. I grew up not far from there and had a lot of fun times at that park and library grounds back in the day.

David, that's more armor than a third world country. Hahaha! Looks great. If I may ask. The Pz III, front row, second from the right. What brown did you use? It's a great blend. Have fun.

You meant this one? It's my mixture of 50% Tamiya dark yellow and 50% Tamiya desert yellow. I weathered it kinda heavy so it might looks like a brownish color.

WOW!! looks even better up close. Thanks David. Painting as soon as the Florida solar flare following by a lightning downpour season goes away. Appreciate you sharing the pattern and color mix.

Getting ready to go to battle. It is nice that the battle field is only 2 minutes away :-)

Many thanks to SoCal Bob and quichebithen for helping me with the extra accessories and equipment. This was my very first time hosting the RC tank battle in OC. My guests enjoyed the battles very much. We came up with a couple neat varieties today. We decided to prolonged the battle by allowing each tank to have "2 lives" instead of one. With so many tanks and a slightly opened battle ground, a few of these new players' tanks received hits without knowing where the shots came from. At the end, we also rearranged the battle field into an oval race track and started a race.
