Is there an easy way to paint the rims without getting paint on the tires?

I am rather shaky from old age and afraid I will make a total mess of it

I thought I read here or watched a youtube video that talked about someone who could make the correct size circular masking circles.

Can someone confirm the above or pass on any tricks to accomplish this task?

    Thanks guys,
    Chuck

Sometimes I make masks on a 3D printer. Sometimes I spin them in drill press. Any drill will do, the concept is the same.

I take a margarine lid and cut a circle the appropriate diameter to make a mask over the rubber part of the wheel and spray the color.
      Good luck

I sprayed the wheels directly in the center and wiped off any over spray on the rubber with a tissue

I do also if they are rubber, but a little overspray on the rubber is normal on a real tank. They don't mask them very well as it's not a high priority.
