You got to start your own. Dont wait for someone else. About ten years ago I contacted a couple people that I knew that had tanks in southern CA and San Diego area and organized a meet. It was sprinkling off and on, I had had the stomach flu the night before but the four of us showed up and drove tanks around in the parking lot because the field was muddy.

I know there are several people in florida with tanks. You have to be willing to drive a bit to a place someone can hold it. Find a vacant field or a big back yard or a place at a public park.
Get a group together and then start advertising it on RCUniverse and FAcebook as well.

Very much agreed. I have experience putting groups together. It's work. More work than I have time for. While I support the idea of a group, I will defer to others. Perhaps in time I may be able to contribute more. There was a group on the Gulf coast. These guys are on MeWe. Bay Area Blitzkreig. They show a meet-up post 24 days ago. In the meantime, I have my backyard dio and beer.

Here is the website of the local RC tank club located in Largo, FL (Pinellas County - Tampa Bay area).
            http://ssmbc-fl.org/Blitzkrieg-Root/...ieg-index.html
Don't have much more information on them other than what is on their website.
I did send them an email to become a member since I do live in Largo - just waiting on a response from them.

Got response back from the Florida Bay Area Blitzkrieg RC model tank club tonight. They are having meets every 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month at the Largo Central Park Nature Preserve (Highland Ave SE). So, I'm going to the meet on February 26th at 11 AM. I'll post some pics after the meet.
I really looking forward to it and I'm amazed that it is only 2 miles away from my home! 😉

Well, here are the pics I took at my first tank event. The persons that run the event are pretty noteworthy as to the tank mechanics and electronics. Unfortunately, there wasn't a real big turnout of members showing up. However, a large age difference was present - from very young novice to experienced aged expert.
I learned not to run my tanks too fast or make quick turns as the very, very small chips of (damm) stones would easily make the my metal tracks (on every tank) come a little off the drive sprocket. No real damage - just aggravating. The one organizer of the club has all Taigen tanks (last photo). If some of the other members had shown up, they would have a simulated river with a bridge crossing, buildings and alot of other stuff.

On a smaller sized field like that one it is best to run your tanks in low power if you are using a HL system. Otherwise it's just to fast for any realism even with modern tanks.

The issue with loosing track makes for more realistic play and happens to even the most experienced of us. Real tanks do often loose track when over driven or pushed to hard. Being able to drive well is a big part of being a successful in IR battling and I would dare say it is the largest part.

Our Florida Bay Area Blitzkrieg RC model tank club has another battle tomorrow, 11am EST, at the Largo Central Park Nature Preserve (Highland Ave SE).
I'm hoping more members show up so we'll have more scenery than the last time. Will post more photos tomorrow after the meet.
