Panther side skirts

This looks interesting, 1/16 Panther side skirts from battlegroundmodels.com. I think they could easily be used for r/c Panthers. Anyone try them?

Thanks for posting the link to Battle Ground Models. While I don't need Panther skirts, they have all kinds of other goodies and items for 1/16 scale and pricing is suprisingly low.

Someone should get these to try them out. That theyre available in the US is a plus.The others I've seen are from across the pond and basically the same price but then you have to pay conversion difference and dreadful shipping or equally jacked up prices on Ebay.

Just my opinion as I'm working on my new project that includes fabricating these skirts:

1. The brackets/hooks above don't look to have robust enough points for attachment to the fenders. I like the Other brackets a bit better-

2. They are offering a decent setup for the price. From very current experience if you have no supplies, tools or time these are the way to go IMHO. It definitely cost me more $$ and time to fab my own.

After following his post, getting supplies and tools and spending some time here is what I'm coming up with-

It's not hard to do. It takes time which I have an abundance of at the moment, materials, Styrene sheets and rods, new exacto blades and I got a razor saw and mitre box that made things easier and more accurate and of course glue. I'm using Tamiya thin to set the pieces and BSI Plastic-cure CA to bond.

If I didn't have the time I would definitely entertain purchasing a set. DavidN shared his whole experience which helped me. As well he went ahead and used the sets he purchased as templates for additional sets. Now that I've made mine, I've made extra for down the road/next project.

The issues with side skirts on HL Panther hull or Panther based hull that Panthers if used outside and driven in dirt tend to loose tracks easily. This means the tracks when they come off the Idler wheels or sprockets can catch the side skirts and rip them off. See this happen often and it’s not pretty.

The ones offered by Battle Ground are nice looking and work well if your Panther is a display or indoor running model. But are too delicate for outdoor off road or battling use.

Yep! One needs to think well ahead before adding cosmetic add-ons as to how they intend to operate their tank. Or bite the bullet!

Might want to attach them with tiny magnets so they get knocked off with little or no damage when something catches them. Panthers with some skirt panels missing were common, so it wouldnt detract from a realistic appearance. If you do that though, make them cheaply yourself for when some get lost.
