In the instructions for my tank it says to add 2ml of smoke oil when the tank has run for 1 hour how do I know how much 2 ml is can you get a measure
and do you add the 2ml in just one exhaust or do you add 2ml to both exhausts

Usually a couple of drops. I am not familiar with the Bulldog. The Sherman was a ridiculous application. I have since converted the connecting hulls to magnets and access the unit directly. Simply remove the plastic elbow and drop in. I am sure the Bulldog guys will chime in. Enjoy.

I see you are new to the forum. You have just started "Two" forum threads with the same title.
Suggestion: If you are going to keep asking questions pertaining to the same tank model you have, try to keep everything under one forum thread title so as to limit confusion.

P.S. It doesn't matter which exhaust you add the smoke oil to - it all goes to the same heater unit.

Is that broken metal or plastic? Also, what does the damaged side of the broken off part look like? And, what does the inside of the hull look like where that break happened?

David N, It looks cool! Actual battlefield damage!

I have been using JB weld two part epoxy to repair broken plastic structure and to repair split screw bosses. Ive never had anything come apart after repairs even on older crumbly plastic..

clean parts. Mix epoxy. Apply epoxy and stabilize parts and let them set a full 24hrs!

A new hull might be the cheaper than what I would do which is put a Henntec adjustable idler on it. You might get it to be fixed with epoxy, but frankly the idler wheel on a tank can take impact damage and holds the stress of multiple vectors of force. I'm not confident epoxy would hold.

A new hull may not last much longer than the first one, dependent on how DavidN drives. I suspect that he is a hard driver. A Henntec adjustable idler is a much cheaper solution in the long run.

There is one minor problem. rctank.de no longer have it listed under the Bulldog. They may be sold out. I can still order it for the Pershing.

I used to order RC tank parts from Germany a lot in the mid 2000's. No longer do that due to other sources available.

Its actually an easy and quick fix that when done correctly ends up being stronger then ever. Although it's complicated to explain in a short brief. Somewhere on this forum a long while back I did a thread on how to fix a broken M41 idler.

If you can wait I can walk you through it at the LA "Tank Fest" on the 10th.

It going to happen. Sometimes early on and sometimes later on. This break was after 8 years of REALLY HARD use. It was fixed and the tank is still being used just as hard today as ever.

It is US$50 for the adjustable idler plus US$20 for DHL shipping. Sounds very reasonable for battlefield tankers.

I am very interested in Rubicon99's robust repair method too. The idler is a loads bearing plastic part. It is no small accomplishment to be able to repair it.

Neither could I. I was interested and wanted to read and learn more about how to fix if it ever happens. I used several search topics, R99's name, and topics started. I searched Walker Bulldog and M41 idler wheel and damage. I also vaguely remember reading a post on this topic awhile before I officially joined here.

Hi i am new to this, but use to repais in lots of rc.
So my suggestion would be for you to find a small metal pipe with the exterior size to attach to the hull.
Or the outside broken part of the hull gets inside the metal pipe with the same lenght.
First you measure the whole broken part, then u cut the pipe to lengh (it has to be a hollow pipe of course) aluminum for instance.
then you epoxy the inside of the pipe and a litle bit on the plastic part and force it to go inside.
after this fill in the inside of the pipe with epoxy and let it sit for 24hrs to dry out or more depending on temperature of the environment.
after this just drill with a small drill bit the epoxy inside the pipe on the lenght of the bolt to attach and of course with a lower drill bit than the size of the bolt.
I hope i have been clear enough to inform the way i would do it.

I think its the best because the metal output will provide strenght to not be holding only with the epoxy and then expoxying by the inside will adhere to the metal providing extra strengt.
If you want you can and you should put also just a small dab of expoxy on the outside of the metal part where it meets the plastic to creat e bigger strengh and weld even more everything together.
For sure after this that part will not break any more.
Then let us know the result if possible.
