  • Taigen JS-2 rear machine gun

I bought a used JS2 and noticed I had no rear mg barrel/ fiber optic. I ordered a pkg from Taigen, which gave me two 1.6mm fiber optic cables which DO NOT FIT into the rear mg mantlet. Do I: just drill out the hole to fit the 1.6mm cable or is the a specific rear mg barrel with a cable inside it? Pictures of new Taigen JS2’s show some with what looks to be a plastic barrel, others show just a fiber optic cable and some photos so no barrel or cable at all.

The rear MG on the JS-2 hasn't ever come wired as far as I know so it's kinda up to you how you make it work.

On my KV2 rear machine gun I used some fiber optic I bought from here:

Fiber optic is a great choice for bringing LED light into difficult to reach spaces, and Evan Designs is proud to offer high quality optic strands. Shop today!

Its cheap, so I bought a couple of feet of all sizes 'cause ya never know what your going to run into.

Evan designs also sells cheap fiber optic connectors to couple a LED (3 or 5mm) to the fiber optic cable....I didnt bother with that, as I just super glued a red LED to the back of the machine gun mount inside the turret, then slid in the appropritae size fiber optic into the muzzle end of the MG....worked out rather well.

FYI: My Leopard 2 had no fiber optic in the MG barrel, and the same was done to that.

If I insert the fiber optic cable into the mantlet, acting as the mg barrel, can I/should I paint the clear cable, (except the tip) black?

For sure. I dont have the JS2, but my KV1 has a stubby barrel sticking out of the Turret. If your using the fiber optic soley as the MG barrel, then yes paint it black. I have also used heat shrink as well, leaving the tip exposed of course.....

If you find the largest Fiber optic is a smidgen to small in diameter, then heat shrink will provide a tight fit.
