Nearly all the people that need to be briefed are running stock henglong IR setups with or without the Legodei IR receiver. There really isnt anything we can do about their IR projection as they aren't going to go in there and modify it.

Its hard enough just to get them to add an aftermarket market IR receiver let alone dismantling the IR bulb and adding a deeper "bore" to its mount.

The "getting hit in the back and sides" by your own team has gotten to be absolutely ridiculously out of control. Its a huge problem and more then a simple matter of teaching new players the etiquette of IR battling. I have decided that I will be blocking off the rear of my IR receivers in future battles at LA until the problem can get under control. After all its pretty rare for an adversary to shoot me in the backside.

Three tanks all getting hit simultaneously by a teammate firing from behind them not once but twice.

It was mentioned that the battlefield is too small for 6 or 7 on a side. It really was congested. The nature of IR discourages teammates being too close together, which was almost unavoidable yesterday.
The more screws it takes to reassemble a tank, the more likely it is you left something out!

Can we just add a straw to lengthen the hole?

We can't even get the new people to run their stock HL tanks in low power, count to six between shots, not restart their tanks after it has been killed or use a club supplied IR sun shade on their stock IR receivers without their complaining. God forbid we ask them to remove a figure or accessory blocking the IR receiver either. Talk about getting butt hurt on that last one. So adding a longer tube to the IR I AGREE with before their second or third event, but it's not going to happen with the way things are currently. And from experience it will not help that much when they are pointing their barrel straight at you or just to one side.

Muzzle discipline needs to be taught more so, but that is extremely difficult with today's new player that want to do, what they want to do.

That's because the newbies are just out to have fun and simply don't care. To me it's really annoying to be shot constantly from a stock HL with a stock mushroom that won't register hits out in the sun. I can't do that with since my tanks all run either running Tamiya or Clark electronics which limits my shot count and I run either Tamiya or LegoDEI receivers. I was constantly dead and stock HL drivers just giggling.

Sounds like you guys need to have some club rules printed on a BIG SIGN. Then if there aren't already, some club referees that will enforce said rules during events. Then different classes for "beginner", "Intermediate" and "advanced" battles with specific requirements and knowledge for each class. And then if too many of each different class several heats per class.

I wish I could just be at one of these battles, let alone get more like minded RC tankers together near me.

It is a bit more complicated then just posting rules. I wish it was that easy.

The problems are relatively new starting to show up in late 2021-22. Prior to the 6.0 (early 2019 introduction) and the introduction of the LegoDEI receivers (early 2020) of which we were instrumental in helping developed as the owner of Lego is a club member and used the club members myself, RichJohnson and one other for initial testing.

We worked at developing the 6/6/LP battling guidelines for HL tanks using the Lego receivers. These guidelines helped the smooth integration with Tamiya and other aftermarket systems. It works really well but requires a bit of integrity. Not a problem for most adults but the young kids we are having join its another issue.

As more and more and more young people have discovered HL tanks and battling them the numbers of new HL tank users now greatly outnumber the Tamiya tanks users(original/older/experienced club members) This causes an issues of lack of monitoring the play and adherence to the 6/6/LP guidelines. Sadly posting the rules or even verbally explaining the rules has little impact with the younger players attending the LA battles.

At my event, I hand out my rule sheets to all new players and spend about a couple minutes going over them. I found that most of the kids listened and followed the rules well. Some of the adults were the stubborn ones and disobeyed the rules. We do have one to two core members observe the battle and disqualified some players.

And sometimes like that has been needed in LA for a long time. I thought it was great when I saw you where doing it in OC.
