  • Intro! Newbie to the forum, but not RC Tanks

Hey all, just a quick shout out to everyone.
As the title says. New to the forum, but thanks to Panzermechaniker for the mentioning of it, yet another tank forum to join! Can-Am RC Tank Club FTW!

Was into RC cars back in the 80's, put away when I got serous with school and engineering. Got back into it around 2010, damned battery tech improved! I love tachnical stuff so rebuilding RC's and upgrading them has always been fun for me.

Got completely hooked with 1/16th armour via the Can-Am RC Tank Club just under a decade ago. Started making my own 3D printed parts for enhancing tank internals. Also started rebuilding the drivelines and electronic systems for other club members.

I am not a modeler! I have rudimentary painting skills that are nearly 40 years out of date for usage and techniques. I do however like to build things and tinker!

A fellow RC Tanker asked me to fix his old worn out Comet with broken recoil system and old HL IR receiver mount.

Since the entire turret was from a Styrene kit and epoxied together, I decided to scrape the upper turret panels off (cause they had broken off previously...)
And put in a bunch of magnets that would hold the upper turret panels securely, but also take the pressure of installing a Tamiya style apple.
The red box on the bottom of the image will hold the main power On/Off switch, accessible from the turret hatch.

With the upper panels installed. Again, I'm not a modeler and I am not correcting the sag of the turret's front "casting" that mounts the mantlet. IR emitter will be via a barrel clamped setup from a tamiya kit.

Great to have another builder join the conversation here on HS. It good to have more knowledge to draw on for those just starting out in the tank hobby.
