  • Canshuo TK26 motor problem.

I'm installing the Canshuo TK26/YK26 in my printed A34 Comet. All sounds work, servos work, rotation, etc. However, the motors are not working correctly. On the right stick: Up/Down controls turning left/right; Right/Left controls forward and reverse. I have tried a variety of wiring configurations from the TK26 to the motors with no affect other than the obvious reversing of directions. Any ideas?

Sounds like you have your system in the "Tamiya" legacy drive mode. You manual should tell you how to switch over to the Heng Long standard drive mode. Note: the manual will not use the words Tamiya or Heng along.

Somewhat agree. Nowhere in the manual does it explain how to change the mode. The left stick works fine, elevation, rotation, etc, (Whereas Tamiya configuration combines movement across the sticks). I assume through some button/gimble wizardry I may have messed it up, but can't get it to change back. Thanks for the thought, much appreciated.

If it is matter of Tamiya vs HL control, check the manual: 1 & 1.1 under Function Setting.

        1. Press function key 6 times continuously to enter the function setting.
1.1 Push and hold the left joystick upward for 3 seconds to switch to mix control or independent control mode.

Press the function key again to exit the function setting.

Mix control and independent control usually means Tamiya and HL respectively.

If you've messed with motor connections, make sure you put them back. Good luck.
The more screws it takes to reassemble a tank, the more likely it is you left something out!

Right. I've tried this. It's not changing anything. It beeps but nothing changes. The right stick is still not "right";)

Sounds like they installed the gimbal 90 degrees from standard operation. Or cross connected the pot leads for the one joystick.
I do not see any mention of how to change channel assignments within the tansmitter...

So pushing forward makes one motor go forward and one go back?
Pushing right/left makes both motors go forward or backward?

Seems to me if you reverse the leads on one motor, both motors will go forward instead of one forward and one backward. And then if you push right or left one will go forward and one back. They are just basic DC motors.

Right stick L/R moves the tank forward and backward. Up/Down, moves one motor forward or backward, but does nothing to the other motor unless the stick is moved to about 4:00 position or 8:00. Having built somewhere near 50 tanks, I've not experienced this oddity. I have several spare boards, (Heng Long/ IBU2U), I can try later. I was just trying this new board. I also plugged in a spare airsoft cannon: It fires repeatedly without any stick input. I think maybe I got a bad board. I ordered a replacement TK26 just continue the experiment.

I took a chance on a replacement tk26 board. Bound it to my existing yk26 transmitter. Everything functions as expected. I must have received a bad board originally. It's not a great board, but I do like being able to mix different sound effects. I'll post it in my A34 Comet thread when I get around to starting it:)

Glad it got resolved. Any chance of returning the original for a refund?
