  • The October War San Diego RC Tank Battle Arab - Israeli themed battle event

Sunday October 29th San Diego RC Tank Battles hosts the annual October War.

The only all Arab - Israeli themed RC tank battle event in our hobby that anyone is aware of.

This consists of IDF Super shermans or earlier non upgraded shermans, Centurians and M60s vs Arab Allies tan Panzers and Russian tanks as seen throughout the conflicts of the 1950s up to the 1973 October war.

All tanks can battle in this special themed event but we encourage people to try to bring tanks within the theme if they have them. For example tan panzers with German markings are just fine to use as they still fit the theme better than an M1 Abrams or leopard 2. Please no Merkava tanks unless that is all you have. They dont fit the cold war Arab - Israeli theme.

This event is has been an annual event for 3 or 4 years now in San Diego and was created due to the popularity of the Tamiya IDF M51 Sherman kit. It has no influence or bearing on the current war in Israel between Hamas and the IDF.

The more screws it takes to reassemble a tank, the more likely it is you left something out!

Can't forget the Centurion. It had a stellar day on the battlefield. The San Diego field is where tanks like the Centurion really come alive.

In between battles, we took some photos & videos of our vehicles on maneuvers. Here is a two minute clip of my M2 Bradley IFV by Tongde driving around. We have the luxury of a very large battlefield, basically a dirt lot off in a corner of Mission Bay Park in San Diego. The ground is a clay, sand & pebble combination, excellent for driving in. It actually challenges our tanks, potentially causing detracks on occasion. The Bradley worked flawlessly, one of my most reliable vehicles. The video was taken with a selfie by one of our master videographers!
