Hi all, am I right in saying all v7 heng long tanks have a steel gearbox?

No. The HL plastic version use nylon gears. The HL PRO, Professional and Metal version use the cheap steel gearbox with sleeve bearings. If you want any ball bearing steel gearbox, you must upgrade yourself. Search for Henglong CNC gearbox if you want the better quality ones. Make sure to get the correct motor location and correct drive axle length out of the 4 Henglong configurations.
Be warned that these high end gearboxes can cost more than the whole plastic version HL tank.Comment

The V7 refers to the board itself that provides the slow more precise and progressive controlable movements of the tank, there is the 5.0 and 6.0. (older versions) and there is the v7.0 and also i think there is already some with the V7.1.
Its called TK7.

Heng Long introduced the TK-5.3 radio in 2018/2019. It is their first 2.4GHz MFU with linear ESC. It quickly became a favorite of HL users because the proportional control greatly improved the driving quality of the RC tank.
It evolved into TK-6/7 in about 2 years. The TK-6/7 make the binding automatic and include a lot of user accessible programing functions. The TK-6.1/7.1 provides servo inputs for recoil and elevation, but mostly as an user upgrade option.
Most Heng Long RTR tank today comes with TK-7.0 radio.Comment
