  • Drive Sprocket Screws Coming Loose

So I took the tanks out to the park today and ran them through their paces.

Fast forward to getting home, and the T-34 lost one of its hex screws on the rear drive sprocket along with its hub cap. The other sprocket screw was slightly loose. I checked the Tiger II and one of its screws was also loose.

What is everyone's solution to this problem? Seems annoying to be constantly worried bout losing screws and hub caps.

The Heng Long metal sprocket comes with a Metric Helical Spring Split Lock Washer that looks like this. If lost, you should replace it. The sprocket screw is a metric M3 size. You can use longer screw up to 12 mm which helps too. Heng Long use socket head screw for the sprocket, making it possible to tighten it as much as possible without worrying stripping the screw head.

It you have the plastic basic version of these tanks, they are designed for indoor smooth floor run only. You should upgrade them to metal professional version before taking them outdoor. Over tightening a plastic sprocket will crack it for sure.

Personally, I prefer the lock washer. The thread locker is less convenient when you need to remove track for repair or change.

ou can use nail polisher as well is easily acessible from your wife and u put just a dab on the threads and let it cure for 24 hours. it will hold the part and it will be easily removable.

Agree with everything else except "nail polisher as well is easily acessible from your wife". You dire not touch it. If you must, liquid CA glue works the same as thread locker. A thin layer can be twisted off easily. It works much better to keep domestic peace too.

To fix the road wheel caps in place, I just paint a few layers of model paint around the gap using color of the wheel.
