  • Help with HL TK-7.1 Motherboard Leopard 2 barrel tilt function

    Hello,
I have an HL TK-7.1 motherboard on a leopard 2a6, and need some help on a couple of functions.

    1. Trying to figure out how to get the barrel to tilt up after every shot for the "reloading animation". Do I need to buy another servo? How do I set this up? I tried pressing the k1 and k2 buttons and it doesn't seem to do anything.

Here is a video I found of someone who has this function working: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SanjDArmEFI

    2. I would like to make the barrel go up when it spins around the back like this: https://youtu.be/Chl3SU_HRjc?si=10zlhd5GRtnq5qlx&t=28

    3. I am also experiencing an issue where all the sounds work except for the canon firing sound. It makes no sound from the speaker when firing.

    Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for your help!

I am contemplating doing servo recoil and servo barrel tilting for the Leopard 2A6. Can you share what servo units do you have?

I was trying to get the HL servo recoil but was discouraged from it. The Toucan sales person told me that a lot of mod will need to be done for the mounting.

What did they tell you! No it's not hard to mount and with your background it would be laughably easy. I have done several of the ones shown above and sure you have to make a mounting platform but it's in no way hard.

Here is one I installed in my first M60. Simple polystyrene base and bolt on supplied support. It is really just that simple.Click image for larger version Name:	AC33FB95-7E4B-41A2-8D10-4C765663E46F.jpg Views:	0 Size:	97.2 KB ID:	394309

@Rubicon99 , thank you for sharing your experience and insight. What would you recommend for the HL Leopard 2A6? The HL servo looks fine?

IF you are good enough at fitting stuff together inside your tank you can use my servo recoil unit and install a servo next to it in the tank using the arm with a shaft like screw in the servo arm to slide back and forth in the elevation channel slot and then you can get as much elevation movement as you can engineer. I have found the elevation servo gear units tend to limit movement.

Hello, I want to have the barrel tilt up after firing. Does anyone know if there are any resources on how to install these upgrades? I have the pro version, so It already has barrel recoil.

Also, anyone have any idea why the 7.1 canon sound is missing?

Barrel loading lift is a setting on you TX not the tanks MFU/RX. Read your manual it will tell you how to activate it. Its been a while since I used that feature, but IF memory serves it may only works with servo elevation.

Canon sound? Have you modified the tank at all? Is it still set up to fire BBs or have you removed that feature?

Toucan Hobby said that the lifting after firing requires an additional servo, and they do not have instructions on how to do it. According to my manual the k1 and k2 buttons are used to set how high the servo raises the barrel and CH2 is for the "canon lifting servo". How is this a setting on the transmitter?

Are you referring the barrel lifting while it is spinning around the back?

The sound issue is resolved. It was because I plugged CN6 into CN5.

K1 and K2 silver buttons are for servo reversing. They will do nothing without servo installed.

Do you have servo elevation installed?

Keep in mind the manual is poorly translated from Chinese and there is a bit of guessing what is being said when you are learning to read it.

Have you tried the new HL-J3 cannon recoil system?
Heng Long metal recoil unit that fits for most of their RC tank Also suitable for other 1/16 scale RC tanks that share the same construction. It can be wired up to the TK6.1 or up, please check with the tank board manual. kit included : Heng Long metal recoil unit - preassembled x 1 Pack of screws x 1 Instruction sheet x 1

Yes. It's nothing special. Although it's a bit cheap looking when seen from the bottom of the unit. Mostly stamped metal parts and body.

I prefer the Mod B1 that RichJohnson sells over the "J3". Both when used with the stock elevation system have the same range of up/down movement but RichJohnson Mod B1 has a much soother operation recoil. RichJohnson is also US based and his is US made. I like to support US companies when at all possible especially when the quality is excellent and the price is fair.

Rich Johnson has done a lot for the RC tank community and deserves our support.

We are here to help but that's kinda vague? How to plug the servo into the 7.1 system? How to install the servos in the turret? Or both?

Kinda have to be a little more to the point with what you want so we know how to accurately respond with an answer for you vs guessing.

How to install the turret. It looks like you can just plug it into one of the ports of the 7.1. If that's not the case, then I want to know how to do that too.

Next question. Are you replacing the stock airsoft/recoil gun with an aftermarket servo recoil and servo elevation unit as they typically go hand in hand and if so which aftermarket unit?

This is information we need to help you more efficiently.

If you just want to shoot BBs, leave everything as you received it from the seller. If you want to start using servos for the barrel elevation and recoil, you ARE not going to be able to shoot BBs anymore and your tank will only be setup for IR battling.

This trigger motor (not servo) unit offers barrel recoil and BB shooting. Not sure if it is compatible with servo elevation.

The barrel recoil and cannon elevation are 2 totally independent function. With MFU 7.1, it may be possible to combine them.
