Smoker Torro Panzer IV Trouble Shooting?

Hi,

took delivery of new tank. 😀 However, smoke function is not working. Added a few drops oil, moved right toggle towards me, but no smoke. Not sure pump is working though I can feel vibrating when switch is toggled on and it goes away when turned off. Bad smoke unit out of the box ? I am a newbie so not sure what should be checked beyond what I have done. Guess will call supplier in morning.😞

Hi!

Try and open up your tank. There should be a couple of screws from the bottom. Unscrew those and open it up. There should be a little box in the rear of the tank with a circle behind it connected to that box, that's the smoker. First thing to do is to check if your tubes are connected to the exhaust port, if they are the next thing I suggest doing it to unplug the pipes from the exhaust port and see if any smoke comes out then. If it does that means your exhaust port is clogged with the smoke oil. If none comes it either means your pipes are clogged or your heating element is not soldered correctly. Third thing to check is if when you turn the tank on the box starts to heat up (give it a minute or so), if it doesn't the issue is related to the heating wire not be soldered correctly. Final thing to do is to open the smoker up, check if the cotton is touching the heating element, and check if the cotton is not too wet, this results in the heating element not being able to heat up.

One thing to add, you can blow on the pipes to remove the smoke oil that could be clogged in them. For this you don't have to open up the tank.

Hi,

Thank you for all of your trouble shooting tips. I took off the cover of the smoker (4 screws on top of device). The wick was soaked in smoke fluid as well as the cotton wadding in the smoke box. I see the resistance wire is intact. Dried the wadding and box. I am leaving it open for a couple days and will retry when it’s a little less oily. Wick and wire look pretty fragile as a combination.

Use a no-contact IR thermometer for accuracy.
