As an ex Cavalryman,( ColdWar),I resent the assumption that the younger generation hasn't "got what it takes".Just look at Iraq and Afghanistan

I am sorry if I have offended. There was no intention to do so. Britain has a very different attitude today, than in WW2. And America has a very different attitude to its military. I say this as I look at the apprentice I have been lumbered with, who was offended because some fruitful language was used at work. I wonder whether he would have the ability at 20 year old to lead a troop into battle?
Anybody who joins today does so because they want to. Back then a lot of soldiers were conscripted. Being placed into a tank and asked to lead placed an awful lot of pressure on these young man.

Yeah man. I'm with you on this one. Our Military has gone very soft. This is by design. Not like we were even ten years ago. Hell, these days Privates are more apt to seek out an electrical outlet and not a night on the town.

Ok. This is not the direction I wanted this to go. It is about a Tiger 1, that was very briefly enlisted into the British army, denied the use of, and subsequently taken away for evaluation. Not about whether one person is a better tank commander, than another, whose army is better, and whether it has or has not got any snowflakes in it. This needs a new topic starting.

Can we please get back the original purpose, which is about how I interpret history. I would not even bother to build another Tiger if was not indirectly to do with my family, my local area and that I found the story interesting.

If I thought is was going end this way, I would not have posted about it. If it continues I will ask the moderators to remove it.

Hopefully everything has settled down. I have had a very nice apology regarding going off subject. Thank you.

Only small amounts of work done, as I am waiting on pay day to buy some materials. Been thinking of trying to make the side mudguards from empty beer cans and plastic rod,but I have a feeling they may be too thin. But, hay! At least they will get bent and damaged naturally.

Removed all the moulded on tools. And reinforced the damage from underneath. Filled the damage.



Filled and sanded, and filled and sanded some more. Laid the tools out, and made a new jemmy bar.



Built up a jack. I need to remove the existing mounts and make some better ones. Found and temporarily installed the fire extinguisher. Brass tube, and PE spru made the new spare aerial tube. I need to do this on Tiger 231 as I am fed up with knocking off the plastic one.



Now need to find the patience to build the PE clasps for the tools, and fix the stand offs for them. Then need to look at how to build the clasps for the tow ropes, and gun cleaning rods.

Big sigh. Mr sfcfury. As far as I am aware, and I am willing to be proved wrong, Tigers never served in Iraq or Afghanistan. The Canadians, Danish, and Germans used Leopards in these two countries in latter conflicts.

Having coming into the army during the 'cold war' era as a mechanized infantryman- Desert Storm, and 2 tours in Iraq... I just want him to clarify his meaning.
I do see he has only made 3 comments and just maybe a troll.

Thank you for clarifying what you mean. I took it out of context. I did wonder my self if he was/is a troll.

I have a lot of respect for anyone who joins the military and serves for their country. Most of the time they are sent to sort out a problem in someone else’s country caused by some else’s politics.

Hopefully we can now get back to the fun bit of modelling a tank. We do this for a hobby for fun, not for political discussion. I’ll try and remember my own words at 2am when I am about to throw it out the window. I look forward to seeing your work.

Will be turning my Tiger II to the one commanded by Otto Blase ,was trained by Michael Wittman and fought in Wittmans last battle in France .Was a tank commander in the battle of the bulge … was brutally gunned down with his crew while trying to escape his disabled tiger .His Tiger was numbered 332.

I presume you mean the turret needs repositioning like in the Heng Long. To be fair, I had not noticed if it is or isn’t. And this being a Torro, I assumed it will be correct. Thanks for giving me more to investigate and using my own words against me 🤣. Once you know about it, you can’t un-know about it. I need to change the the gun elevation to servo operation, as the current motor driven one is just weird

The board is a Taigen V3 and it is showing with 6 channels presumably for servo although they are different plugs to servo plugs. Any advice, from those with more knowledge on this would be welcome.
